Sonar X1 upgrade questions

Hi all, I've decided to blow some new life in my old hobby of music making. I left the house when I was at Sonar 2. I notice that upgrading would be affordable, but still some questions. 1. Am I entitled to upgrade to X1 Studio from Sonar 2.1 XL ? The upgrade options on the website tell it's €99 from any Sonar Studio or Producer edition, but as far as I recall there was no talk yet about Studio vs Producer in Sonar 2.
2. How strict are the System Reqs ? I intend to use a 3 year old laptop that has a T7500 CPU. This is already a dual core, but judging on cpubenchmark.net it's not quite up to par with the minimum requirement of an E8200.

3. Is the current Welcome Kit that you get until Aug. 31 worth speeding up my decision ? It wasn't entirely clear to me what this package includes.

Any other things I should take in mind ?

I would imagine you'll be okay. My specs are in my sig and as you can see I'm underpowered as well but it runs absolutely fine here.

I also run it on my laptop on a T6400 although I don't stress that as much as I do my DAW.

Welcome details are on the site on the info link. It's a couple of videos, PDF, and a few other bits.

Not sure about the other one, have you tried customer services?

    1. The XL version of 2 would probably be the equivalent of today's Producer Edition, but you'll have to confirm that with Cakewalk customer service.

    2. SONAR should run fine on the laptop, but you won't be able to create large projects.

    3. You get some SONAR X1 training info to get started and some extra SoundCenter synth and Rapture synth sounds. Info is at:

Thanks for the answers already. Dropped Customer Service a note to ask about the Upgrade price.

In fact, apparently I should also think about Producer vs Studio. The upgrade to X1 Producer is €199 from version 2.0, while if at a later time I'd want to upgrade from X1 Studio to Producer, it would also be €199, throwing away my €99 upgrade price from 2.0 to X1 Studio.

Edit: actually quite surprising that the upgrade price for Producer is €100 more than Studio, while the full product is actually about €200 more expensive. Or does the Upgrade option miss some things that are in the boxed version (apart from having physical disks/manual etc..).
