Sonar X1b Audio Engine Problem...
Hey there Sonar X1 Users, First time poster. I usually don't post issues unless it's a big one, but this new X1b update is screwing me up already. I'm currently using the Tascam FW-1082 as an audio interface. Honestly, I have had no problems with using the interface and X1 until I updated today. There seems to be a problem with audio buzzing/crashing whenever I start playback on a project and then stop playing it. It doesn't matter whether I use the FW1082 to stop it or the keyboard, but I causes this audio buzzing noise in everything and it doesn't stop until I hit play again. I'm really upset. I figured this update was going to address some of the major issues with V-Vocal, navigation, etc, but this is causing me more problems than I had before. Honestly, I could deal with those problems before the update, this problem is of major concern to me. Anyone else getting something like this? Is there a fix? Pete

Try holding the shift key down while clicking on the X1 icon to start. That will reprofile your environment. If this doesn't work try rebooting in case your audio drivers have crashed, it happens. Report back.

OHH YES MAJOR Audio engine problems now!!! I keep getting a dialog box popping up "unable to open audio device, may not support ... blah blah blah" when I press the play button , i can press play a few times and the audio will start. it is the same device I used , a Saffire LIquid 56, with NO problems before the patch !! BUG # 2 pressing the SOLO button on a buss causes the audio engine to stop playback and halt. pressing play resumes palyback

Hey there Middleman, Thanks for the help.... but unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem. There's still the audio buzzing when I stop playback. I rebooted the machine after installation, tried turning off the FW1082 and then turning it on, and I also held shift when starting Sonar, but nothing is fixing it. I even checked to see if it was maybe the project itself and went into the settings, but it's not fixing it either. I've tried other projects too... same thing. To be fair, the initial installation (before the X1a update) was the only one that worked for me. I didn't apply the X1a because of the stories I had heard with instability. I had only been using the first build of X1. However, you have to install X1a to install X1b as well, and this just started after that. Please let me know what you think. Thanks for the help Pete

Close X1, delete (or rename) aud.ini, restart - it will recreate this file. Cheers, Peter.

The X1a was to correct some ASIO problems so that indicates a driver issue. If you haven't already downloaded the latest drivers for your FW1802 I would do that. Or are you using the WDM drivers? Let me know.

PeterMc and chuckebaby, tried your methods. Thanks but it didn't work. It's still doing the buzzing when I stop playback. Middleman, I'm using the ASIO drivers with the FW1082 and they are all up to date for the unit. I'm still stuck :-(

Well I think it is considering it was NOT happening with my initial installation of Sonar X1. I'm considering rolling the installation back to the disc version. Honestly, I understand that this particular issue is not in the fixes category for the X1b patch, but I did also have to apply the X1a patch to install it, so perhaps it is in relation to something that happened with X1a being patched before it. I would really appreciate any help when someone gets some time. Thank you. Pete

I found this post because I encountered the same problem with the same interface. This is how I fixed it: 1. Go to Preferences Screen 2. Under AUDIO, to to PLAYBACK AND RECORDING 3. Make sure PLAY EFFECT TRAILS AFTER STOPPING is checked. This immediately solved my problem, hope it works for you. LD
