Sonar X2 Power

Has anyone heard if there is yet a Sonar X2 Power book?  I purchased the Sonar X1 Power The Comprehensive Guide which I found extremely helpful, and was wondering if anyone knew if there was one for Sonar X2.  Thanks.

    Hi Ken,

Not yet, but it's in the works.  I still have quite a bit of work to do though, so it's still a few months away.

    Thanks!

    Scott,
Thank you so much for the update.  I am from the old school of 2" tape and I am clueless about DAWs and have only been working with Sonar since 2009.  Your books have been a valuable asset to me!  Without them, I can't imagine what I would do.  I appreaciate everything you do!

    Hi Ken,

Thanks very much! I appreciate it.

Yeah, I remember 2" tape and reel-to-reel 8-track. That's what we had to use back when I was in college. In a way, things were more straight-forward, but man, some of the things we had to do (like editing tape) were so tedious.

And the things we can do with audio today are just amazing.

I REALLY am fond of your attention to detail in your books, and am definitely looking forward to your X2 stab at things,

    Hey Bob,

Ha! Don't worry... I'm working my behind off.  But I can't rush the project because if it's full of errors, I'll never heard the end of it.

The good thing about the extra wait is that the book will be based on the final shipping version, not the beta.

    Thanks!

That's true, so true. I've done some software dev, so I know what you mean.  It would be so nice to create a perfect product, but right off the bat it's a losing game because the software has to be based on the OS, which is something we don't control. Oh, well... eventually we'll have true AI and computers will take over the world, so none of this will matter.

I don't look anything like my avatar. To be honest, I don't know how I came up with that logo. I just sat down one evening and wanted to come up with a logo for the DigiFreq site. So, I doodled around using a program called PhotoImpact and that's what came out.

Where's Fog and the mandatory Power Fly Fishing book question??

I never got the X1 book before I was confident with the software (sorry), I was hoping for a digital edition that would be sold to us (rich I might add) Norwegians;)

Any chance we can get our hands on it this time in digital form? iBooks for example?

    Hey Marius,

He he... Fog must have gave up on the book and decided try fishing on his own.

Regarding ebooks... yes, I definitely hope that's the case, but I won't know until after publication. I know that SONAR X1 Power is currently available in Nook format, which can be read on a variety of devices with the Barnes & Noble free readers apps. I have a link on my site: http://www.garrigus.com/powerbooks.asp But I'm not sure if the Nook books are available internationally. I would think so.

    Thanks!

Yeah, for some reason, I don't think I can buy the Nook edition here either. I can't even find the Nook reader in the App store. Perhaps there's a third party thing that will work.

Norway is a nightmare when it comes to digital distribution though, so I'm not holding my breath. but I'll look into it more closely when X2 power is published

That book is just a quick start with only 170 pages.

It doesn't even compare to the 600+ page SONAR X2 Power! book.

Not sure about the book size though. I'll send your suggestion to the publisher, but that's all I can do because they determine everything about the publishing process.

    Scott

I should add Scott's Power books are unique. They add a great many tips and are written in a highly readable form.  They are much more than a manual. Things that are glossed over in the CW manuals are given proper detail with a users insights. They are not just a rehash of the manual.

I believe X2 Power is going to be a must have.

Thanks, John and Bram! I agree completely.

I always recommend people take the time to read the books at least once from cover-to-cover and then use them as a reference because you never know what info you might miss. Plus, the book is written in a way that you may need to know something that was written in a previous chapter in order to take full advantage of the chapter you're currently reading.

I found that if I keep a finger or two a couple of chapters back, then I can flip back to confirm what was written in the previous chapter - it takes me reading well into chapter 8 for my brain to comprehend what I had read back in chapter 6.

Some days I need to have the prior version of the whole book available.  YIKES!

    :)

    Hey Bob,

Yeah, there's a lot of info in the 600+ pages of each of the SONAR Power books, and SONAR X2 Power will be just as thorough. Hopefully, everyone will enjoy it and get a lot out of it.

    Thanks!
    Scott

    Love your books Scott
    2 requests/suggestions
a chapter on how the smart tools work ('cause I'm sooo confused!)
And could they make the book thicker but shorter so it will fit on a bookshelf?

You're going to need a bigger bookshelf

Don't worry... I only post during breaks. I still need to eat.

Now, if I could only figure out how to transfer my consciousness into a computer, then I could work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The consciousness thing wouldn't work - I think I remember that men have random thoughts of naught bits every 17 seconds or so, and I have to imagine that any transference time savings would be offset by having to do all that extra editing to remove the naughty bits.

I think I am MUCH better off waiting for your real book.
