Sonar X2 and Sony Vegas Pro 12

I have a Sonar X2, I7 920, Windows 7, 24gig ram, system. I currently only have two hard drives. One 480gig SSD drive, and a 1TB drive. I plan on buying another 1TB drive so that I can use the SSD drive for programs, 1TB drive for sounds and samples (my BFD2 audio will be on this drive too), and the other drive for my Sonar projects.   My question is, once I install Sony Vegas, do I need another drive for the video files?

Ideally you want your video streaming from a separate drive (or so I have read), but I stream my videos from my audio drive without issues.  I do very little video editing though

I use X2 and Vegas Pro 12 also and have never had issues having video files on the same external drive as X2 audio...but then I never use X2 and VP12 at the same time.

Thanks g_randybrown!   I have two questions. Do you record your Sonar X2 audio to your c-drive (internal drive) and then move them to the external drive or do you record directly to the external drive?   Also, have you had any problems with Vegas sharing Sonar's vst's? I remember years ago Vegas would scan the Sonar vst folder (if I remember correctly).   Many Thanks!

I haven't recorded to my C drive in many years...that's never a good idea for any serious work for either program but I put audio and video on an internal drive (other than C) and 3 external drives.

In VP12 I can use several plugs that came with X2 (especially the Sonitus suite)

I have an older vegas and don't do too much video anymore, but even back when a single core and two drives worked well for vegas - except for the rendering.  So yes, record and play back from the E: drive or whatever.

As far as the vsts - vegas is (or was) like Cake and you can tell it where to look for vsts.
