Sonar X2 updates

Are there rumours of a Sonar X3 or something? Cuz I'm just starting to build my studio and the worst thing that could happen is seeing X3 when I come home with my X2 (essentials,by the way). 

And also do the updates costs money? (If there will be any that is)
I mean like as long as I use X2 essentials, will updates regarding that be free? (Not upgrades, updates)

    Usually Cakewalk comes out every fall with a new version. So if X3 comes out in October or November, don't be alarmed, your software will still continue to work...
     
    For the most part updates are free, upgrades are not.
     
    There will always be something new, just focus on the software you DO have, and learn to use it well. That's your best bet.

    Updates are free and if the X2 cycle is like the X1 cycle it'll be closer to 2 years rather than 1. This was a shift for Cake who previously released new versions every year.
