Sonar X2 x64 Bit -Vst Plugins Latency

Hello dear Sonar Users,

my Producer Mate currently switched his Sequencer to Sonar X2.

So the problem is: when we try to run Sonar X2a with our Plugins (Massive, Absynth, Fm8, Waves Element and Sonic Academy ANA1.5) in x64 Bit Mode, there is always a huge amount of drop-outs which makes it impossible to record in an accurate way...
Before switching to X2a we were using Sonar X1 and the Plugins mentioned above, where used in 32 Bit Mode with the BitBridge. The reason why we decided to install the x64 Bit Plugins in Sonar X2a was, that when we shutdown the project the Bit Bridge sometimes hangs up because of a huge amount of 32 Bit Plugins inside the project. So my question: Is there anyone who has the same problem and any solution? Or does the 64 Bit Plugin need more CPU--in this case it would very unpleasent for us, while we were buying a new computer with an I7, 16 gig Ram and so on, but with this hardware the Massive x64 Bit doesnt work well for use at a latency of 256 Bit Asio Fast Track C600.

The Massive x32 Bit with the BitBridge instead could have been loaded up with more than 20 instances with no dropouts, but in X64 Plugin Mode the Massive or the Ana are useless.

Hope you could help me?

Thanks much and best regards

I have 64-bit Komplete 8 Ultimate, and will try out loading up a bunch of Massive instances and post back with results.

I have lots and lots of projects with large numbers of tracks and synths, with no trouble with latency, so I am not sure what is going on that is different for you.

Please tell me what effects you have loaded into one of these projects where you are having problems.

Thanks,

I just set up a new project in X2a, with 20 instances of x64 Massive, and 20 stereo audio tracks routed to each of the Massive instances, and I have ZERO problems with latency with all of them playing at the same time.  (Input Echo On is on for all midi tracks, so all instances are sounding when any midi notes on my controller are pressed).

Audio meters on every track are responding instantly, and all peak on the meters at the same exact time, so I think something else is at play in your project or with your setup.

I look for your response to my earlier question on plugins that are loaded into your problematic project.

Thanks so much for your answer!

So I always work with the Waves CLA and Maserati Bundle, also with the Fabfilter Eq and Comp and the Sonar intern Breverb and effects,

but Im not sure if the problem is caused by the effects. It´s the same with Ni Maschine, When I use the Software from Maschine with the controller in Sonar, the X2a power display shows me always a huge swing when I load up the x64 Bit Plugin, but with the 32 Bit Plugin theres absolut now power needing. It´s courious because everytime I think-- with the new reset of my computer it should be work, but after the format of my hard drive theres still the same monitoring.

Dongles are the Elicenser and the ilok but i cannot imagine any relation between the dongles and the huge Power amount Sonar X2a needs when using those x64 Bit Plugins without BitBridge.

The Projects are always simliar of using the same plugins and effects, so Im very baffled^^

Pretty unlikely,

but thanks much for your answer!

Yeah sry forgot that,

We´re currently working on a Laptop Dell Workstation, completly formated and new. Everything like Internet Wlan etc... is Disabled and not installed, so just the Software and Controller Driver for Ni Maschine.

The Hardware from the Dell:
I7  2670QM@3,2 GHz, 16 Gigabyte Ram, 1500 Gigabyte Harddrive with 7200Rpm and a Nvidia Mobility Graphic Card.
OS: Win7 Home Premium Sp1
The audio Interface is the Fast Track C600 from Avid/MAudio

Thanks for your help!

There is a free program called DPC Latency Checker, and another called LatencyMon.  Download and run these programs to see if your computer's current configuration is capable to run streaming audio applications, such as Sonar, without latency issues.

The download link for DPC Latency Checker is:

http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

And the download link for LatencyMon is:

http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon

When you run those programs, do it while Sonar is NOT running, to see what the base level of performance is.

And, independently of that, go into Sonar, load one of the projects you are having trouble with, and just for testing purposes, hit the 'E' key on your computer keyboard.  This will toggle off/on the bypassing of all effects.  After bypassing all effects, hit play, and see if that fixes the dropout issues.  If it DOES, then one or more of your effects plugins is causing your problems.  If bypassing the effects does NOT get rid of the issues, then we need to look at some other things - and most likely some info from running DPC Latency Checker and/or LatencyMon will help with that.

Since you indicate it is a laptop, you may be experiencing problems with Sonar's audio streaming caused by the laptop's wi-fi adapter.  Often, these for some reason interfere with streaming audio performance.  For a test of that, you can go into device manager and temporarily disable the wi-fi adapter and then test your problematic project in Sonar.  (you can enable it again right after testing Sonar with it disabled, so don't worry).  We just want to see if that is contributing to your problems.

So, please review the above, download those programs, test out bypassing the effects, run those programs, test the disabling of your wi-fi adapter, and post back your results for all of that.

Thanks - we'll get it.
