Sonar X2a Series

I really like the direction that Cakewalk are heading. I have not been on the forums for a while cos I have been busy making music on Sonar X1 Studio now on Sonar X2 Producer (thanks to the cheap offer) with a new ACER PC.

Sound quality is good working in Sonar is a bit more relaxing. I found that I was able to get alot of work done quickly in Sonar X1 and the joy of producing music came back to me.

Honestly I have been a bit stop start in X2 but that is not the DAW's fault just that it inspires me to be a bit more creative and I actually have flash backs of using Sonar 8 with X2. Anyone else feel this way?

So, so far I am enjoying Sonar X2 was quite surprised to see all the negative comments but then I am not a power user. For my limited skill level and knowledge I find X2 to be quite good I have read reviews which seem quite honest saying that X2 is good but not as good as the competition as a professional DAW. But saying that I still think it stands alone, in a world of its own. So if you are a strong character who is quite single minded a bit quirky and probably over defensive then we are definately in the right forum!

Verdict: good product 3/5

I really really like Sonar, but I will say (as a professional programmer myself) that I'm not happy with what I think is the programming inconsistencies and bugs.

I'd switch to just about anything if I really could believe it would stay stable. I'll stay with Sonar because the potential is there. Just please get the coding stable!

Dappa good to see you.  You have been missed.

If I may comment on the defensive points you made. I don't believe its defensive I think that some of us get tired of the bashing and constant comparing to other DAWs in an unfair way that goes on here.

I think you nailed it when you point out CW is going in a new direction with a lot of great things to come. Those of us that have made a smooth transition to the X series are in favor of this new direction and those that are in favor of the old Sonar don't want to make the transition. Their response  is to cause conflict and dissatisfaction here. They don't care that it can also stop people from trying X2.

In a way its a fight for the hearts and minds of customers. I hope we win it.

    Best

I understand that X1 had to be different a sort of template if you will but once it is built upon we may see a slight tranisition to the old Sonar but with a new spin. I like it, it is creative and definately a bit left field. I find getting used to X1 and what it can do is inspiring. John as you know I can be cakewalks big critique, but at the moment I can seriously say that I haven't had to think about Studio One at all.

Infact I'm starting to you know head over with the X series...so cake keep up the good work!

One more thing I think Acer computers are highly underated the Acer software is a good back up to what can possibly go wrong with computers, they work well with the Windows 8 platform and stability is never an issue with this computer.

I wonder if any Acer users feel the same way?

    Hi there:)
I'm working with Cakewalk since Version 0.97 or so under DOS and there have been some unlucky Versions in the long time till now, but with sonar X2 I'm very happy and it's very stable on my PC. Perhaps some have problems, because they have some other Software on their PC, i've one Partition with just Music Software on it, no Internet, no other applications, no Games, nothing and it works very fine!
On another Partition I've the same Music Software together with the whole other Software, Internet, Games and so on, the whole stuff, and Sonar get's crashed some times!!!

    Greetings:)
    Baseman.
