Sonar X3 Producer crashes at one song

Hello,
I hope you can help me. Sonar X3 producer crashes whenever I want to load a specific song. I've added the guitar track just yesterday and everything ran without any problems. All other songs, there's no problem.
What could this be???

Please urgent help, tips, suggestions!

Best regards
Charvel

Hi, and welcome to this forum. Maybe try to open the project in safe mode (hold Shift while opening project). This will disable all plugins (click no to all when prompted). This will exclude plugins issues. If it plays with no plugins, close the project, do the same again, but allow one plugin (2 the next time, and 3 and so on) to be accepted per opening in safe mode until you get this issue again. Hopefully you have then found the culprit of your problems with that project. Hope it helps. If not, come back and we will try to help some more.
All the best.

Welcome to the forum!
Without knowin anything about the contents of the project and your system specs/audio interface, it isn't very fruitful to start guessing.
What do you mean by "crashing"? Do you get any error message? In what format are you saving - cwp or bundle?
Is CPU hit of the project higher than that of your other projects? What driver mode are you using?

I've experienced quite a few problem projects. Usually the cause has been two VSTs which don't like each other or a project too heavy for my feeble PC. An active instance of Melodyne used to prevent opening projects, too, before I learned never to leave a Melodyne instance active.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Can you please detail your equipment specs and settings? (type of audio interface, Windows level, Driver Mode in Sonar Preferences, etc.).

Also, what happens if you load this particular project in Sonar's 'Safe Mode'?

Here is a link to X3's documentation - and it still works the same in Platinum:

https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR%20X3&language=3&help=Troubleshooting.05.html

The above link has several suggestions for troubleshooting dropped notes and crashes during playback.

The basic idea with loading a project that is failing - using Safe Mode, is to try to first see if the project will load with you telling it during the Safe Mode dialog NOT to load any effects plugins.  It is quite possible one or more of your plugins are somehow causing Sonar to crash or have major problems.  By not loading them in, through using the option of skipping the plugin loads, you can at least get into the project to save it off under another name, (to save all of your recorded data), and you can also go through a one-at-a-time load of the project with first a single plugin, then closing without saving, reloading in safe mode and trying 2 plugins, and repeating until you either get the whole project loaded, or you discover a failing plugin.

Check out the link, and provide some more details about your system configuration and specs, as well as any information about this project that is different than others that do not fail.

Does this project have any 32-bit plugins being loaded?  This can be problematic.  BitBridge is freeware provided by Cakewalk and included in Sonar, and it will automatically load to provide a 32-bit plugin a 'bridge' to be able to run in a 64-bit Sonar installation.  IF a particular plugin is failing under BitBridge, there is also a commercially available bridging app called JBridge, which serves the same function as BitBridge - and some folks have better luck with particular 32-bit plugins using JBridge instead of the included BitBridge.  (first - figure out if this project loads any 32-bit plugins).

Hey, Charvel - SUPER happy you got your issues resolved.

I am mighty curious as to HOW you were able to determine which plugin was the problem.  Did you end up dealing with the Safe Mode load one at a time approach, or did you do something different?

I am asking you this because someone else downstream may have a similar problem with a plugin, perhaps a different one, and your steps to resolution of YOUR issues may indeed also benefit THAT person.

Lastly - it would be a kind of 'nice and helpful thing' if you were to either add something like 'Solved' to the subject line of your thread's initial post (you can edit your own thread, and just add that to the subject line) OR if a particular post contains the solution, you can also mark that post as 'Answer', (it is an option on the bottom right of each post).

Either of the above two approaches would be kewl - it lets others know there is a solution to the stated thread's issue within this thread, AND a lot of times a bunch of the forum folks will spend some time giving back to the Sonar community - and they do that by reading threads like this and trying to see if they can help.  It then can get a bit frustrating to read through a bunch of posts to find out that someone had actually solved the issue and just hadn't really let anyone know (so they lose whatever time they spent trying to help).  Soooooo, if you don't mind - either way of showing it's resolved would be great.

I wish you the BEST of all things musical, and hope your Sonar experience helps you get lots of music created and hopefully marketed.  (or just to sound good if you are recording as a hobby).

These forums are full of pretty knowledgeable folks, who WILL do their best to try to assist someone who is actively engaged with getting their issues resolved.
