Sonar X3 Producer taking forever to load or do anything
Hi there, I've been building my home studio up for about a year and a half now, and with more days comes more and more fancy equipment, Which brings me to my problem... Okay, my setup is an AMD 4.0Ghz Quad Core pc with windows 7, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD. I have an audient asp 800 housing 5 toms a snare top and 2 overheads, which is then connected via adat to a presonus firestudio 26x26 which runs via firewire to a Presonus Studiolive 16.0.2 which then runs via firewire to my firewire card in the pc. All my interfaces are clocked by the 16.0.2. So having said that, every time i start up sonar, it takes upwards of 2 minutes, mind you my normal template does have around 40 tracks, usually 2 sessions of superior drummer for all my pads and triggers, plenty of plugins and all that good stuff. Now whats funny is after sonar opens, i can play all 12 of my drums tracks through live with a guitar player playing, all the midi and plugins going etc and it will have everything play through fine, no pops or lags. Now i go and record those 12 drum tracks. Im recording for a minute lets say, everything is fine. but upon stopping the recording, my waves that pop up on the tracks may take like a minute to load and god forbid i touch one thing or the infamous circular loading bar pops up and sonar isnt reponding anymore. Now thats when the problem stays, i cant do anything anymore without it taking minutes on end for another take to load and being at risk of crashing sonar. By this time i need to close and reopen sonar to get it to work. But the second i try tracking it again it will do the same. My buffer settings are low at the moment, i do need to play with them. But it seems odd to me that everything plays fine with no pops or crazy loading times until i stop tracking and things try to load. Could my wiring be better? Like take the audient straight to an adat card and keep the presonus ones running firewire? It seems to be a latency issue but for some reason im feeling its something else in sonar. I think I covered most of my ground. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks alot!
