Sonar X3 Studio how to add FX to specific midi and audio clips within their Tracks

Hi Folks, started with my first tune and loving Sonar, a lot of learning to be done so i appreciate any patience shown :-). I have a midi track and an audio track, both are made up of various clips. I have added an FX to the whole track for both but what i want to do is have the FX (in this case the BT Tempo Delay) triggered only on certain clips. Basically what I am doing is when the FX is active on the midi clips its not on the audio and vice versa. Any help of advice greatly appreciated folks. Thanks a mill in advance.

As Kalle says, Midi fx will not affect audio anyway and vice versa. To have an audio effect applied to midi you would have to render (bounce) the track to audio first, or freeze if it is a soft synth. Automation of the delay would be better than having multiple instances of the same effect, but if automation and such is beyond where you are on the learning curve right now you could put only the clips that you want to be effected onto a separate track and put the effect into the fx bin for that track, or put it on a bus and route that track to the bus. Either way, only one instance of the effect which means less clutter and less cpu munching.

Thanks a mill for the replies folks, some interesting reading and in regards to where i am on the learning curve, right at bottom of that curve :-). Great point highlighting the Midi as just Data, I will try and keep that in mind when referencing tracks, my midi is driving session drummer in this instance. For now i will go with creating seperate tracks and a bus for the FX and will be putting Automation, Freeze & Track Bounce on the learning agenda for this weekend, the latter will be completely weather dependent, cant waste any sun that we rarely get in my part of the world :-).
