my only suggestion for the moment is to leave some info.
hard to tell anything without knowing what we are dealing with.
your OS, Audio interface/soundcard would be the first thing you might want to put in your signature.

    Windows 8.1 X64 Sonar Platinum x64
    Custom built: Asrock z97 1150 - Intel I7 4790k - 16GB corsair DDR3 1600 - PNY SSD 220GB
Focusrite Saffire 18I8 - Mackie Control

Hi. I agree with Chuck. More info is needed. Cakewalk Command Center does not have anything to do with X3. It is solely for SONAR 2015 /16 (Artist, Professional and Platinum).
Did you try a demo of the new versions? If so you might have to uninstall and reinstall X3, as they share some components.
    All the best.

ok, i am using x3 studio, with Windows 7 Ultimate, Focusrite 6i6, Asus Puter with AMD FX (tm)-6300 Six-Core Processor, 3.50GHZ, 800 GB RAM, 64 Bit OS, I still have sound drop outs. Will start playing for about 15 secs, sound goes off, have to press the Input Echo icon, sound comes back on for about 10 to 15 secs, goes out again, push the input echo again, sound comes back and stays on. If i try to go to Preferences to adjust the buffer or speed, its not highlighted and wont let me adjust.  Suggestions?????

    Did you run LatencyMon yet?
    http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon

LatencyMon checks if a system running Windows is suitable for processing real-time audio and other tasks.

It will provide a comprehensible report and find the kernel modules and processes responsible for causing audio latencies which result in drop outs.

    In Preferences> Audio > Driver Settings ...

To change your ASIO buffer size, you will need to click on the little gray button labeled "ASIO Panel" and make the changes within your driver's ASIO panel, not in Sonar. If the panel doesn't launch from there, you may have to locate it and start it manually.  ASIO just works that way ...
