Sonar X3 finally finds the way back to their loyal users

I'm really very happy.

After years and years of complaining about the interface and the way Cakewalk handeled with the X-series - resulting for me to leave Cakewalk and to use other DAW's in stead of - there is now finally an X3 version which in turn makes it fun to work with!
The customizable colours are finally back and there is a wonderful way to make in an easy and fast way your own choices with multiple takes. Maybe not original (Studio One did it some years ago already), but who matters? It is wonderful and it works great.

Bravo Cakewalk, here is a loyal fan who - after all these years - is back in the house! A fan from the beginning, and again admiring Cakewalk now. You did it! Thanks for listening.

Best regards,
Dick Kloosterman

i second that ..even if i had nothing but headache since the install (concerning specific use i do ) , i keep thinking that this is one of the most Mature (features wise) version since a while !!!

I usually never upgrde soon after relase and never in the middle of a pro project , but those features are so workflow oriented that i said to myself : ok 2 or 3 dayz of headache and then hours and hours of time gained !!!

I'm using Cakewalk softwares for many years now, and I wonder why the X3 came out only 1 year after the release of X2 and why they didn't put a little more in X2 and improve it's stability...

I'm a long time happy user as well:
    * X3 is very stable - so far only a couple of very minor random things. Probably the best new version release ever for me.
    * It absolutely hit a home run with me on features, very close match on my wants and needs, including some I didn't know I had.
    * Dan Gonzalez managed to get me back on the Cakewalk mailing list after many years!

8.5 users should check out X3 if they aren't interested in ProChannel. At $49 it's cheaper than Reaper.

Sonar has come along way since 8.5 and X3 is not crippled. If you have Melodyne you can even take advantage of the ARA tech.

X3 gave me all the features I wanted and some more. Really appreciate the color customization which made tracking and mixing much easier and FUN. This was the only feature that had me consider Protools, not anymore :)
Oh, and converting audio tracks to midi, sweet...

Can't wait to see what that might be.  BTW, I've been a loyal SONAR user/Cakewalk customer since SONAR 3.  That's over six decades... just kidding.  (Okay, so I am not one of those old fogie Pro Audio owners.)  But I have been here ever since and am not planning to split.

    Thank you, Cakewalk!

Good old DOS.... I started with Digital Orchestra plus, my first DAW, but that was already under Windows.

A $50 stripped out Producer upgrade would go a long way to reaffirming my loyalty. As it is I'm already making a date with the nice girl down the street.

Cakewalk 2.0 for DOS here - I'm sure we have some 1.0 in the forum as well. I think prizes should be awarded for all that got in early enough to get the "Twelve Tone Times" snail mail newsletter. At 4.0 I think you sneaked in just in time to get one or maybe two before it turned into "Quartertone" if my memory isn't messed up.

Thanks Andrew! You guys really hit this one out of the park. I am finally really happy with the sound I am getting. The console em and the tape em have given a real sonic character I haven't really been able to get since going digital from analog over a decade ago. Tremendous work. This kind of feedback means so much to us. Thank you.

More good stuff to come soon!

Thanks Andrew! You guys really hit this one out of the park. I am finally really happy with the sound I am getting. The console em and the tape em have given a real sonic character I haven't really been able to get since going digital from analog over a decade ago. Tremendous work. And thanks for the presence here. It's great!

Glad to hear you are getting great results with the new combination of the  Console Emulator and Tape Emulator. We thought these would go hand in hand.

I don't know there are many of us that never turned our back on CW or Sonar.
