Sonar X3 - routing a track to trigger an effect input

I am using Sonar X3 here - have not upgraded to the latest version yet.
I am using a plug-in on Track B which requires routing a signal from another track (Track A). It is easy enough to route Track A to the input trigger of the plug-in, however, then the signal from Track A is not heard in the mix (i.e., its output is only triggering the plug-in, but can no longer be heard).

Is there a way to route this in X3 so that Track A can trigger a plug-in on another channel while still having its audio output going out into the mix? I believe that this might be called "side-chaining(?)

Have track A's output go where you want to hear it. Use a Send from Track A to trigger the plug-in.

I'm kind of doing other stuff right now so don't have time for one of my usual long winded posts but for now...

1) What plugin are you using (the one you are routing Track A's signal into)?

2) How exactly are you routing Track A into the plugin? I can only assume the plugin is exposing a "Key" input to Track A somehow.

And just to be sure... we are talking about two audio tracks and an audio effect, right? You are not routing MIDI data around to various plugin synths/instruments or something like that, right? Because those would be two totally different situations with very different answers.

I'll check back later.

Cheers.

The mystery plug-in on Track B must have a side chain input as part of the plug-in. If it does and is enabled (if necessary) then the plug-in will appear in the Track A output and send drop downs. In this case use a send. BTW, if it is a Waves plug-in, it must be VST3 format for side chain to work in SONAR.
