Sonar and Fruity Loops

I heard that Fruity Loops can run as a VSTi within X1. I was wondering if anyone is using it as a VSTi within Sonar or X1. I tried to go to their forum but it appears to be a closed forum for current owners only. Can anyone tell me about how well Fruity Loops is running and if it works/interfaces well/great with any version of Sonar. By the way I have read some of the older posts about Fruity and Sonar but most of it was 2010 or later.  Thanks!

FL is a 32 bit program. just keep that in mind with your x64 Sonar.  relying on either jBridge or bitbridge is a shaky proposition.  i have both FL10 & Sonar X1 x64 & i find that the 2 don't play well enough together for me to trust FL10 inside Sonar.  i'm sure others have had better luck

If you have a registered ownership of FL Studio then you should still be able to get into their forum. If it has been so long, you have lost your username and password, then send them an email.
FL Studio 10 is a hybrid 64 bit. It has the ability now to load 64 bit VST's when used standalone. I am not using Sonar64 so I can't confirm this, but it appears it has a 64 bit VSTi to load into 64 bit hosts.

Thanks guys for you input.  However, I don't own fruity yet.  That is why I wanted to look at their forum so I can see how happy existing users are.  It seems fruity is affraid to let the outside world in.  So I thought I would ask you guys and as usual you have come thru for me.  So, if you are using fruity as standalone how do you interface with Sonar?  Stereo pair saved to wav and import to Sonar?  Any problems with that approach?

Hi mrberrie I use Sonar 8.5 running on a 32 bit platform under XP and I also use FL Studio. I also use Presonus Studio One. Firstly I would like to say do not hesitate in getting FL Studio. It is amazing and quite a different program and I am having a ball with it actually. It bounces and does all that so getting material out of that and into Sonar is easy.

But I have got FL Studio running quite nicely inside Sonar as well. You just have to watch which window is active and the keyboard commands change over obviously according to the active window.

I am tending to start and finish projects right inside FL now anyway. All the audio and instrument plugins are there. Tons of automation, everything actually you could ever want and need is there. The mixer is a bit unusual and takes some getting used to but very powerful though.

It is a pattern based program and also a linear based  program, people do not know that so much about it. The bundled synths are great and the extra instruments for purchase are also amazing. The step sequencer is quite extroadinary and the piano roll is one of the best I have seen as well.  But if you have a 64 bit system there may be issues as already mentioned. I would use it stand alone, it tends to keep your headspace into FL more when you are in that mode. Studio One runs it perfectly but I still find it a bit weird changing from a host to FL all the time and back etc..

What many don't realise is that every audio track can act as a sampler and transpose audio over a huge range, apply several filters to the sound and also alter the volume ADSR or envelope and it also offers a separate filter ADSR or envelope on top of that. And LFO modulation too and all this BEFORE the sound even leaves the track and heads to the mixer channel!

I love it, I think it sounds fabulous too. There is over 100 excellent tutorials on how to use it and extract maximum performance out of it too. It is also one of the finest programs out there for searching and finding your VST's. It will find every VST and DX plugin you have and make them available inside FL Studio. I have got the most number of plugins available inside FL including nearly everything inside Sonar 8.5 as well.

I don't get this mentality at all.

FL, Ableton, Reason et. al are all 32 bit programs and are all great at what they do, why you would even attempt to run them with 64 bit Sonar baffles me.

Have the 32 bit version of Sonar installed which it does happily alongside the 64 bit version and you can use all manner of 32 bit apps. plugins, etc without any bridging issues whatsoever.

If the advantages of 64 bit are so important to you then you have to ask yourself why am I even bothering with a 32 bit app.?

Ableton, Reason, FL all work with Sonar via Rewire and I'd be more inclined to run FL rewired than I would via the VSTi, and I think Jeff's testament to FL above says all that needs to be said.

If those synth plugins support output as mono pairs, use it and pan it as you want
