Sonar and Sibelius (ReWire)

Hello,

I am having problems using ReWire with Sonar 8 and Sibelius 6. I do find Sibelius as a ReWire device in Sonar and can add it OK, but when Sibelius starts, it gives me the message "Audio Engine Error: Bad Settings" and it doesn't work. I have tried to change the settings both in Sibelius and in Sonar - to no avail. I am using RealTek as Audio. They were not able to help me on the Sibelius forum, so I am trying here.

The error message in the PlogueEngine.log is: "Server Thread COULD NOT SET SERVER THREAD PRIORITY!!"

Any idea how to fix this?

Thank you in advance for your help!

John

Was thinking about gettting Sibelius for scoring, and read this. Guess nobody's gotten anywhere with this?? I've noticed a couple of related posts...Too bad you have to be a registered user for the Sibelius forum access...

Are you guys running a 64bit OS? I think I've seen people state that rewire only runs on a 32 bit OS.

    EDIT:
Or maybe it was that the application needs to be 32 bit. I'm not sure, but I believe I've seen something along these lines in previous posts on this topic.

There was a thread about this a while ago. I believe Susan G. had a solution to it. If I remember correctly, you need a virtual midi driver.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

    A couple of things:
First - dump the Realtek as your audio I/o. You may not be able to, seeing as how it's an onboard soundcard. Get a real soundcard - you'll be greatful for the increase in souind quality and capabilities.
Second - are you running 32 bit or 64 bit apps? Rewire is 32 bit only.
Third - any particular reason you're running Plogue Bidule? I'm guessing that from the error message you give. Try dropping that from your setup and go straight Sibelius to Sonar.

This is a known issue since Sibelius 6 was released.  As far a I know no one has gotten Sonar to rewire properly with Sibelius.

I don't have version 6 but this is from the Sibelius Forum.  It may not be the exact probnlem but the solution is worth trying.

    Problem:

Sibelius doesn't appear in your ReWire host such as ProTools, Cubase, Logic etc. It may be because you need the latest version of ReWire.

    Solution:

You can download the latest version of ReWire here:
    www.propellerheads.se/download/updates_rewire
If this doesn't help, quit the ReWire host and open Sibelius 6. Go to Play, Playback Devices and click Audio Engine Options. Click both Repair and Clean-up, if you can, and quit Sibelius 6. Start the ReWire host again and check to see if you can start Sibelius 6 through ReWire.

Anyone know if this has been solved in any way? I'm thinking about getting Sibelius.

I'm playing around with the Sibelius 6 demo and also wondering if anyone has Sibelius and Sonar working together. I like the program enough that I would install 32-bit Sonar alongside my 64-bit version if I knew it was possible to get Sibelius to work with it. Otherwise, I would have to pass on it. It's a shame pre-order customers can't get access to their forums.
