Ive worked with Sonar and videos for years(1992??). Sonar has gotten way better. I have always prepared the videos from clients before I start work. I always create a 10 sec roll up, create streamers to visually tell me when music starts/stops/changes and burn my own time code just for safety. The small amount of time I spend before hand pays off dividends later in the work process. I have been making my Sonar pic files AVI and have been happy with the way it works.
As far as correct time code, being a frame or 2 off here and there is going to happen no matter what software you are using. Computers don't actually use frames anymore and where one frame starts and the other stops is going to vary.
Sonar does have its quirks, but the way it handles softsynths, work flow and the speed of mix down far outweighs the video issues...which I allow my video program to handle for me.
