Sonar is doing something crazy.
Hey guys, hopefully someone can help me out with this. I have a song that I recorded in Sonar 8.5. When I play the song back now I get this crazy delayed sound on the vocal track almost like a doubler or something, only problem is fx-bin is bypassed and all sends are disabled. I tried opening the song in X1 and I still get this crazy sound, almost like a Doppler on that track. But here's where it gets even better, if I play the actual clip stored on the hard drive it sounds just fine, there is nothing different with the track, I don't understand how Sonar can be colouring the track when there's no effects, no sends, and no effects on the master bus. Any ideas?
Sonar X2a PE, Win 7 64-bit, Intel Core i7 3770k, 8Gb Corsair XMS3 RAM, Asus P8Z77 Lk, Roland Octa-Capture.

Do you by any chance have the track layered twice - an accidental <CTRL> drag? IIRC both layers will point to the same file instance. Cheers Grif

No the track is soloed and there is only one instance of the recording in the track.

I'm going to ask the obvious. Have you turned on layers for the track and forced rebuild layers to check there aren't two clips, one on top of the other?

I did turn the layers on, but I didn't rebuild them. I just grabbed them and moved them up and down within the layers, there's nothing behind them.

Drag the clip to a new track, (use a blank space in track view to auto generate a new track with default setttings).

Browse to the project audio folder using either the built in browser or windows. Drag the correct audio file to a blank space in the track view to create a new clip.

How about importing the clip (or rather the file) that plays correctly into another track Grif

Okay I took the actual clip and imported to a new track, now it sounds fine. So obviously I have something funky going on that track, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what it would be, any ideas? The FX bin is bypassed, no sends are on, and it is routed straight to the master bus, which I did with the new track, so obviously it's not the master bus that's whack.

I ran into a crazy delay effect artifact showing up on some tracks where I was using Audiosnap. That is, on playback in Sonar, not when exported. It was recommended to me that I bounce the clip (which processes the audiosnap to a new clip) to resolve the problem. Maybe there was something similar applied to the track in your case?

I'll give this a try next, what I ended up doing was exporting all of the tracks in their 'raw' format and then importing all of the tracks into a new project which fixed the problem. I'll give the audio snap thing a try though.

YES. Bouncing to clip eliminated the problem. Thanks so much!
