Sonar is no more. So what's next?
So now that Sonar has been killed off what's next?
We can continue using our Sonar for as long as possible but in the long run it is going to date and not keep up with advances in hardware and software. I really don't fancy forking out what are for me large sums of money for another DAW. I then came across a newish kid on the block MIXCRAFT who are offering Sonar users 45% OFF until the end of January. At $99 its not too big a gamble. So two or three days ago I emailed them my Platinum serial number and proof of purchase. Since then I have heard zip. Any one else taken up this offer?
Assuming this works out and I start to run MIXCRAFT what plugins VST are transferable from Sonar?

I got 63% off Studio One 3 with their crossgrade offer. Learning it slowly while still running Sonar Professional.

If you don't hear back, ping them again...I've always found the company to be exceptionally responsive to inquiries. Assuming this works out and I start to run MIXCRAFT what plugins VST are transferable from Sonar?
Quite a few of them...mostly it's the ones from third-party manufacturers, like the Blue Tubes plugs, that don't work. I don't recall all of them right now but there have been other threads about this. Also, Mixcraft supports DX plug-ins, so you will still be able to use the Sonitus ones.

I have found that Studio One is a joy to use. The learning curve for someone like me who is mainly audio focussed has been a breeze. And customising a few keyboard commands makes it like Sonar. There are many things I prefer about SO over Sonar - e.g., Melodyne integration is much faster and less buggy. Setting up buses and multi output VSTIs is so much easier.

I bought Mixcraft on the crossgrade deal. Very impressed with it. Bundled with tons of plugins. Chase them up if you haven’t heard anything.

And customising a few keyboard commands makes it like Sonar. I did a set of keyboard mappings and sent it to PreSonus to use if they want, and I suspect they will.

Here we go again. People you owe it to yourself to spend some time in the Software forum where this topic belongs and has many, many real good threads with all the details to help you figure out what to do at this time. Myself I'm doing nothing because there is no need to PANIC!

No panic here, just giving myself options, and taking advantage of a very attractive price on an alternative DAW, having investigated a few. Can't see anything wrong with that.

I've transferred my 3 remaining songs to be mixed for my next album to Studio One 3. I don't need to use Sonar any more. I love the way they do Mastering in SO3. I still like this forum since I pick up some useful info that is applicable to any DAW. Good luck to the die hard Sonar Users. Walt
