Sonar not recording on the specified MIDI channel

Okay, so I have MIDI channel 2 for bass guitar.  It's on track 2.  The track is set for channel 2.
Drums are on MIDI channel 10, they're on track 1, the track is set for channel 10.
But when I record either instrument, the event list shows them both as being on MIDI channel 1. The two instruments play properly, but why doesn't the event list show the actual channel that's being recorded?

By the way, I did manually change the channels in Event Inspector, which makes all existing events show the correct channel.  But if I add more to a track, new events are shown as channel 1 again.  Why?

Honestly, it doesn't matter. What matters is what the midi outputs are set to. I wouldn't obsess over it any.

Could it be the midi device you are using is sending on channel 1?
Only explains half of it, though.

The output Channel setting will re-write the events to the specified channel on the fly. The Input port and channel controls what's echoed and recorded, but you would have to set your controller to transmit on that channel if you want the events to be recorded with that embedded channel info.
