Sonar x1 Set up

Hello, new to the forum and quite new to Sonar x1 Studio, been using it for guitars and drum machine but nothing else really.  I'm a man with all the gear but no idea I'm afraid and need help!!

I have:
Sonar X1 Studio running on Win 7
Intel I7 2600 @ 3.4 ghz
8 Gig Ram
2 TB HDD
Beats Audio/Nvidia Sound Card
BFD2 (just got this, and truggling to make it work properly!)
Many virtual Synths (Struggling again!)
Roland   A-800 Pro (can't get it to work with Sonar/BFD2/Virtual Synths etc, spent all day yesterday trying to make it work, watched videos, read instructions etc, I have signals but nothing else)
Saffire USB 6 (Can record guitars, vox etc but have latency and lag issues)
Roland TD4 KX2 drum kit (Can record the drum unit but want it to work with BFD2)

If anyone on here can help I will pay for services!!  I live in Horwich, Bolton, UK.
Dan

    Welcome!

There's a forum specificly for X1, where you maybe will get more accurate info.

But I can say something: That Beats Audio is an integrated soundchip, right? Make sure you don't select it for anything in the Preferences dialogue. Use only the Saffire and get the latest ASIO-drivers for it. Select Saffire as the Record/playback timing master.

For soft synths, all you need to do is go to Synth Rack or Insert>soft synth and all the tracks are created for you automatically. Then you just need to select your keyboard/the relevant input of Saffire as the MIDI-tracks input.

What do you mean you can't make BFD work properly? The expression leaves a little too much for guessing...

The next thing you could do is get another HDD for the sample libraries and project audio (always use Per Project Audio Folders (if that expression is used in X1)). It's too much work for one HDD to simultaneusly write the recorded material, read the backing tracks and find and play the samples used by the soft synths.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.
