Sonar x-2 studio or hang with music creator

First, list the specs of the system you use for your DAW. That will help us sort it out IMMENSELY.
Also include what type of sound card you use, etc.

a few things will happen, you will find that there are so many things you may very well be a little overwhelmed.
but if you go with a lighter version or ms6 you may find you don't have the tools to do the things you want.

here's the thing with sonar x2,
it has so many features that it actually brings out more creativity in you. you have more tools to do more things, thus expand your creative process.

this is most obvious in session drummer 3 compared to studio instruments.
or z3ta compared to cakewalk sound center.

I know a lot of people who have bought sonar essentials that had wished they bought producer.
there are more advanced features,but they're hidden so its not like its more confusing.

my advise is to take your time, try the demo, enjoy it.
if you find it is everything you love,then wait for a deal to pop up.
there are always deals on sonar x2 poping up here or there, like getting freebee's with your purchase or 100.- off the retail price.

thanks everyone for the welcome and the input....it seems producer is hands down around here. I always thought it was a little pricey for my skill set, want to buy but wasn't sure if I could learn enough about recording and mastering to use producer to its maximum potential.

Also, I know this PC isn't "studio" quality and I had enough trouble with MC5 crashing on the old pc.

Its not pricey when you consider what you get. As for learning you will learn no matter which DAW you use. Its part of the process so you might as well learn on the flagship version. 

You'll do more trouble shooting with X2 than recording.

 
-1.    I don't do any troubleshooting with X2a.   Really, it does just work... a few quirks with Take Lanes aside.  
 
That said, based on the OP's current situation I'd suggest he stick with MC5 until he realizes that it doesn't offer everything he wants or needs, then look into upgrading.   IOW, upgrade based on want or need, not just for its own sake.
 

Well, loaded MC5 and watched the dialog box load Studio Instruments and see it on my c drive, but MC5 doesn't see it. Don't remember having this problem on my old xp machine. Maybe not compatible with windows8?
Probably should've posted this over in the Music Creator place.
Still not ruling out an upgrade tho to studio x
