Sonar's at it again!!

Having now managed to sort out dates to get back to recording with the band, I decided it was time to check over the stuff we have and get back to grips with it all.

Problem being.....

Opened up Sonar 8.3 (also have X1 but not using it until these tracks are complete) only to find that everything is playing back slow.

Both Sonar and the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8r show the same sample rate. But the songs currently play back at a slightly slower speed....not sure how much but when I used a stop watch to check against the clock in sonar, I noticed that sonar was running slower to the point that as it got to around 20seconds into the song it was actually 22 seconds passed on stopwatch.

I've just gone and uninstalled the M-Audio FTU8R and will have to trash the AUD.INI too to see if I can get it working.
I've had this on quite a few occasions, used to be only one of the songs but I decided also to set up a clean track in sonar and see if that done the same, indeed it does.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to have to go through this again >..< not now that i've got time to get back into the studio and record.

I have encountered different samplerates, playing up in 44 though a 48 project etc.

Different operation can change samplerate on souncard. One being a sound played by windows, may reset samplerate to that being played back etc.

Check that windows sounds are turned off in control panel.

Sometimes drivers for souncard allow you to lock it to a certain rate. Look for that in audio control panel for souncard.

So check what you are using as a playback and recording sync clock source in audio settings in Sonar. If you have an onboard souncard and that is used is enough for your problem to arise.
