Sonar4 with MOTU 896hd

Does anyone use the MOTU 896hd with Sonar4? Are there any compatability issues. Is there any latency going with Firewire.

Works fine with my A64 at 2.9ms latency.

One complaint: the motu firewire drives do not have autorate setting, so when you change the sample rate in Sonar, you'll need to change it in Motu's driver panel to match, and reboot Sonar.

2.9ms latency? Does this mean that you have to shift new tracks back 2.9ms when overdubbing?

I'm looking to ditch my Korg D1600 for a firewire solution, but this latency thing has me worried. When overdubbing, how are the existing tracks monitored (firewire or output soundcard into channel of 896hd)?

Latency is the delay the signal has between the in side of your computer and the out side, and has nothing to do with having to nudge tracks.

2.9ms is very good (and last night, while playing with my firewire settings, I was able to get that down to 2ms which is about as fast as it gets with my hardware).

You ought to do some searching here on the subject of latency.

The MOTU has direct monitoring capability. Its a good piece of hardware.
