Sonar7 with USB connection to BOSS GT10b

Hi all, I'm using Sonor 7 and am wanting to connect to a BOSS GT10b      ( bass processor) via USB to process pre-recorded tracks and keep in the digital domain. Problem is, when I play a track (which normally sounds fine) into the unit, the track is grossly distorted and garbled. Not your typical digital or analog distortion. I've tried playing a CD from the computer into the GT10b and it sounds fine. So, the problem doesn't seem to be the USB ports or the GT10b, The sound only distorts when I play an audio file from Sonar.  Anyone heard of this or have any suggestions.   Thanks

Is the Boss the only sound interface active in Sonar ?  If there are two you will have to get sample rate clock from one to the other and make sure that matches the sample rate of the project.  Or, deactivate the driver for the second one till you get your bass tracks done.  If the other one has a SPDIF input you could get the clocks in sync by connecting an SPDIF cable from the digital out of the BOSS to the SPDIF input of the other sound interface and set it to get clock from SPDIF.

+1 to ohhey, I have the Boss GT8 which must be similar, I use the SPDIF out from my GT8 to the SPDIF in to my audio interface. In fact I even have to use a $25 co-axial to optical converter in-line and have no quality or timing issue at all. Check you have defined the audio interface as the tiing master in Sonar and you should be good to go.

Yea, using the boss'es USB makes the boss an audio interface and the boss doesn't work good as an audio interface. It lacks the drivers and you would have to use WDm driver mode, because you would be using 2 audio interfaces. Not that WDM driver mode is bad, its just thats the driver mode you need to be in. But the boss doesn't have decent drivers.

So either use the S PDIF or use the Analog outs of the boss into the inputs of your sound card/audio interface. Hopefully you have a decent audio interface. The way I use all these outboard amp sims is by using the analog outs going into the inputs of my sound card. Its the easiest way.

Hey CJ, ohhey, and Kiosk project. THanks so much for taking the time to reply to my question about the GT 10b an sonar. All the info was helpful. Kiosk hit the nail on the head. All I had to do was change the playback timming master under Option/Audio to The Boss Gt10b and life was beautiful again! :-)  Thanks guys
