Sonar7/Windows7 Audio Problem

I recently upgraded my operating system from Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm running Sonar 7 using an Echo 3G Layla sound card. I have the latest drivers.  I record audio using a Rode microphone.  Since the upgrade I have been unable to record any audio nor playback any existing audio which was recorded prior to the upgrade. I get the following error message when Sonar starts to open.
The following driver(s) either do not support the current audio format, or are in use by another application.  Please choose whether you want to disable them or use them anyway.  All the driver names are then listed. Then you have two boxes with the option to "disable" or "use anyway".
I've checked everything that I can think of. Has anyone experienced this problem and if they have what was the solution to it?  I certainly would appreciate any help anyone could give me.

Make sure the drivers are Windows7 drivers (64-bit if you're using 64-bit Windows 7). Also make sure you are using ASIO driver mode. Make sure the Echo Layla 3G drivers are the only ones selected in Options-Audio-Drivers.

Ditto what Dave is saying. We will assume your W7 is 64 bit and it's easy to miss this when looking at the driver download page.
Check in Sonars Audio options for ASIO mode and that the Layla is checked as the device.

Can you playback Windows Media player with the Layla?
Did you make sure it is the default Audio device in control panel?
Did you install the drivers for the Layla before installing Sonar?
This is unverified , but I seem to recall this is recomended.

Thanks Dave. That seems to have fixed the original problem but now I'm having dropout problems. Seems I had this before but I can't remember how I fixed it. Has something to do with latency if I remember correctly. I really have never learned all I need to know about Sonar anyway. I suppose that's pretty evident. Thanks again for your help.

Dropouts are sometimes caused by system latency, background processes running and interrupting the audio buffers. Run the DPCLAT test to check your system. http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
