Sonarpdr.exe

Has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Happens often enough to be of great concern to me, I'm on XP home edition, tried replacing my old 2g of memory for 4gig from crucial, as some searches here suggested mem probs. It used to happen randomly but now seems mostly when opening pluggin manager, but not every time.
So I click through the error and get a text report,  file name is usually some numbers the underscore appcompat.txt. but following the route to the folder its stored in and its never there. I can get to the correct folder if I make system files visible. would love to be able to send this report to cake to see whats happening.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks Roy

Thanks pwal, yes theres several incidences in there and I can copy them to a word processor and read them, but theres no indication as to what the error might be caused by, just application error in sonarpdr.exe 18.1.5.535.

id start by looking at your drivers first thing before anything.
in my experence, this is usualy a driver issue thats causing sonar to crash, a conflict.

or maybe a fight between two different control surfaces.

Problem with my mLAN drivers is that Yamaha wont be updating them, so they are quite old which is why I'm still on XP. I could try re installing them in case they've got corrupted in some way over the years. They did work without a hitch in Sonar 7. Thanks for the input chuckebaby.

SONAR creates a minidump when it crashes, which usually contains enough information to identify the source, if not the exact cause, of the crash.

You will find these files in documents and settings\{user_name}\application data\cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer\minidumps. You've probably got several of them; they are named according to the date they were created.

CW will give you a place to upload the relevant minidump, which they can analyze and tell you what it tells them. (Or, if you're really ambitious/curious, you can read them yourself as they are standard Windows dump files like Windows itself creates when it crashes. Most people aren't that curious.)

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Only Found 1 DMP file at this location 03062012 etc unable to open with dumpchk so no way of knowing if it contain any useful info but that date is older than today so I wouldn't think its of any use.
    Thanks. Roy

Still no resolution. but I've been playing about with Sonar 8.5 on same system... You guessed it, I cant make it crash. Went back to X1 5 mins opened pluggin manager then closed it. Sonarpdr.exe error again.. So I'm well stumped now. cos I was blaming my system and my audio gear. when it now looks like some incompatability between X1 and my system thats not there with 8.5..
Not sure what to try now. Back to thinking mode.....

Run a program called system medic followed by Toniarts Easycleaner, both removed lots of stuff. Following this sonar x1 run for an hour without crashes with me doing all the the stuff that usually makes it crash. However it now does the Sonarpdr.exe error when exiting Sonar. Now I've seen that fault here before so I'm off searching again.
