Sonarworks?
Wow, Sonarworks, I just looked this up! cool! Do they have a forum where I can.... hum? ask questoons. ;) No, though really, I just found out about this and wonder if a lot of people here use it, pros and cons? I do have IK Arc2. Is it worth the extra cash? Peace!

I had ARC 2 so was in no rush to move over to Sonarworks initially, and spend more money on duplicate software. After having tried both, Sonarworks is a no-brainer. First, for speakers, doing the profiling is SO much better. It sends out a pulse to locate the microphone instead of relying on you placing the microphone in a specified position. Right there, Sonarworks is worth the outlay, IMHO. You are able to get a better profile, faster, and easier. Also, the resultant profile sounds better. My ARC 2 corrections always sounded a little dull, and I always had to bump the levels up 4 - 6 dBs to get the same apparent listening levels. Sonarwaorks sounded good and balanced out of the gate. As for the headphones, I have the KRK 8400's which are very nice cans for the price. With Sonarworks they are a total bargain. Since I live in an apartment in the middle of San Francisco (dense housing - surrounded by neighbors) and am a nightowl, being able to reliably mix on my KRK's is very convenient. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend Sonarworks over ARC 2.

And BTW if you do read that thread, my problem with earlier versions of the SW not showing up got resolved fairly quickly, so kudos on support from Sonarworks too.

So does the Sonarworks app show up as an output option in Sonar as a hardware interface out would? Then do you route from the Sonarworks app to your hardware interface out? Anyone use this with Presonus Audiobox 1818vsl?

No...it's a VST Effect. You place it Last in the chain on the Master... Once your mix is where you want it, when you go to render, turn it off.

sounds easy enough, thanks If i just wanted some things in the headphones, for a tracking mix for example, could I instance this sonarworks vst effect in 5 busses and two guitar tracks so the vocalist just hears what she wants, or can there just be the one instance of Sonarworks at one time.( I'm familiar with routing so one instance wouldn't be a deal killer just a little more thinking...)

As with any other VST you can use it on every track if you so desire. Could you not just "Solo" the tracks she want's to hear and just leave it on the Master bus? Would be far less tedious...unless YOU want to listen to everything while she is only listening to a "Headphone" mix...

I've been using Sonarworks for about 6 months now and I couldn't live without it. I never really noticed how much my ATH M-50's hyped the bass until I tried it. I mean they were always great cans and I guess it's pretty easy to take that hype into account when making EQ decisions, but with Sonarworks everything just feels so flat and balanced and true. I have both ARC2 and Sonarworks set up in a Pedalboard2 preset, and I use Virtual Audio Cable to route all system audio to Pedalboard2. So I can watch videos and listen to Spotify with both ARC2 and Sonarworks correction. I even find myself flipping Sonarworks on when watching a YouTube tutorial, because it makes the narration sound so much better.

I wish my new $150 fostex T50RP mkIII were on the list. Can't really send them to Latvia for a month. Trying to talk myself into a second pair - the fostex are semi-open so maybe a new closed pair would be good for tracking due to less bleed...
