Sonat 8.5 - Missing Audio Files -- Please help

Hello -- I'm on Sonar 8.5 Producer, Windows 7.  The project has around 40 audio clips and around 5 MIDI (Session Drummer, mainly) clips. A  few days ago, I made a back-up of the audio folder and the most-recent version of the project  (they weren't in the same folder), and copied/pasted them to an external drive.   As a test, I tried to open the project, from the external drive.  It did open.  I may then have also briefly opened the project the normal way (from its F drive).   Anyways,  I'm pretty sure I didn't work on the project at all (on either drive).
Later in the day, I couldn't open the project from the external drive or from the F drive.  I get the "Missing Audio FIles" box, but when I try to select the audio folder, I get "File Not Found"; I then click the "Search" to see if they're anywhere unusual in the computer, but still nothing shows up.  There's some quirks in the project that I'll spare you guys of, but the project always opened until I copied  the files to the external drive.   Can anyone help, please?   Thanks much...

Bumping in case this got missed.

There is a CWAF tool which is described as a way to find missing audio files.  However, there is very little documentation on the tool and even less that I can find online about it.  ProTools can find and pull audio files from different locations for 1 project with ease, but this is not the case with Sonar.

Hopefully someone can chime with some ideas for you.  I'm curious as well.

I just encountered this same problem.  I backed up my projects folder to a different drive, and now both of the sessions in question, original and backed up, are missing audio files.  Very sad.

Edit:  This is in Sonar Platinum.

Always have the "Copy all audio with Project " box ticked in the "save as" dialog and this will not happen.

I have never lost any audio in 13 years of using Sonar.

I always start every project from a custom made template or a blank CWP project.
I open the template and  Immediately   "save as"  to a new location folder, create a new folder, rename it,  and always make sure the "save Audio with project" box is ticked, and save the project inside this new folder.
At the end of the day I will do "save as" to my other data drive or a drag and drop to external, sometimes both if it's an important project, say for a client. I date those back ups.
