Song #1, Mix #2
up for your perusal, is a new version of the first new song i posted here recently, but after some feedback, i've made improvements... this is the 2nd mix of a song with a working title of 'middle of nowhere' looking mostly for translation issues, but anything that sticks out is something i can focus on fixing. https://soundcloud.com/bats-brew/song-1-mix-2i can say this, once i uploaded this to soundcloud, i could hear the obvious changes in the sonics of this song being downgraded to a low bit rate file, made it less punchy, and more bright. i think maybe once i get to the end of the mixing stages, i'll upload wav files so folks can really check it out.

"The Middle of nowhere, the centre of everywhere" interesting lyric.
All the classic Bat's guitar tones and licks, I like it. I think your right it has lost some of the punch I would expect from you.

--about the vocal levels, i like em where they are, but others have suggested to turn them up as well. in my mind, certain kinds of vocals, like ones that are telling a 'chronological' story, should be front and center.... but this one, is more of a 'vibe' thing, where the wordplay is really meant to sound a certain way, rather than 'rhyme'... so i've set the vox levels down a bit. still playing with the approach of the vox mix the vox mix, is set back in the mix on purpose.... it's kinda like when you first listen to 'gimme shelter', and all you can make out is this kind of wailing melody, with a few words attached. the closer you listen, it becomes very obvious what the lyric is, and that's the point: to draw a listener into the mix deeper, and not have the vocal sit on top as if it's a top 40 mix.... some folks, and i understand why this is, just want to hear vocals. clearly. on top of everything else. anyway, like i said, i'm going to keep playing with the levels, there's got to be a compromise in there somewhere for me to find.
