Song Length

I havent been using sonar for long or any recording for that matter, but something I cant figure out. When I export a project to mp3 or wma the song always reads like 3 minutes longer than it actually is. When it is done playing it is still only halfway through the meter at the bottom of windows media player. I have checked and there are no clips or anything past the 105 or so marker. the song is technically only 4 minutes but there is another 3-4 minutes of silence after that on the player.

Do I need to make an actual ending in sonar or what. I have a feeling it is affecting the actual size of the file also. I am a total Sonar newb so any help is appreciated. I bet it is something obvious but my brain is mush from learning this programs options.

    Hi,

I'm not sure, but you can try selecting your whole track (Edit > Select >All) and then doing the export.

Make sure it's not selecting anything beyond the end of your track.

    Hi Max!

Before exporting to audio, double click on a track so that all the tracks are selected and then make sure to scroll all the way to the end of the song and see how far it goes. If it's selecting longer than the song already is then check to see if it's a rewire device causing this (this actually happened to me with Reason). If it's selecting longer than it should and you have confirm it was caused by a rewire devices, then you can also select how much of the song you want to export by double-clicking a track to select all tracks and then selecting, using the ruler, how much of the song you want. If it still doesn't work then let us know. HTH.
