Song
Hi, I have been quite distant all thoose times... Life has its own rights.. Actually I should not post this song here because it was made from A to B entirely with Ardour and Mixbus, but I have allways found here such a cool welcome that I authorize myself to share it.... Cheers to all. Olivier. https://soundcloud.com/ol...geot-2/a-dream-forever

This is my kind of a jam, kind of like a country-side song.

Hi Rita, Thanks for listening and posting. Well somewhat countryside,I must admit, Actually ,playing with country musicians gave me a place to sit in, I wrote chords charts for a gig and one of the guys told me:" you did a good job writing down thoose charts, but I will never read them,I want to play with my heart!!" I only heard this before from Indians people( American Indians) ... Rehearsals were a nice time: With good french musicians...on the charts , and this guy ..on the heart...A real experience. So ,yes, kind of country-rock-jazz-french song...... Just have to look forward lowering this snare wich seems,to me,way too loud.... All the best. Olivier.

Hi Steve. Thanks for your time spent listening and posting a comment. As far as I am not english I don't understand if you tell me " let the snare how it is" or " dig it until it sounds acceptable". All the best. Olivier.

To explain my meaning of 'ditch', I would leave the snare drum out of the mix completely and let rhythm of guitar take the song forward, or perhaps introduce an open hat in the snares place but low in the mix. JMO ..All the best BTW your stuff on SC sounds reel cool I like the mix on Cette Voix and a few others thanks

Well , Almost reached something with this song.. Just have to redo all the vocals.... CU soon. Olivier. Edit. Well I think there comes a time to admit that things are as they are. It recalls me a tv broadcast I watched once where Britney Spears absolutely wanted to have another take on a song and the producer said ... No! Not pretending I should approach this lady's talent but while the vocals on this song are out of tune and out of beat, there is no need to try to make it better.... It won't....Tempo is too slow, drum part doesn't hold the line, they are tons of mistakes concerning bass and guitars part..... This can be an endless work, for nothing...... Thanks to all of you who gave kind advices and thanks to the others too. I like this place , hope it will carry on with its nice " soul " . See you soon. All the best. Olivier.

Hi Oliver. This song really has a nice laid-back country-ish feel to it. The lyrics have a good story line and I very much like the timber of your voice. Nice one

Hi, Well sorry to be loud with this tune, but I have passed the state of being ashamed..... Good news with Sonar rebirth, this is the strength of virtual world, some of us are aware that in real life no brand ,as powerful as it is ,can make the needles run backward... Just to say that with the help of a kind of realtime autotune Waves plug-in ( on sales last week) ,I have almost the feeling to sing...well, in tune.... Next step will be the audioquantize in realtime plug-in ,and then ,I will be in tune and on time... Kind of cheating, almost a fake singer,.. Anyway,to my ears, though I think I am not able to have any objectivity concerning this song,it seems to help. Again good news with Sonar. All the best. Olivier

Hi BJZ. Thanks for listening and for putting me back in the right way. I get in touch with my limits... Got to go back writing in french,or get the help of somebody proficient in english in the future .... It is easy to correct this mistake in the written text, but as far as I do not want to redo the vocal on this one ,I will give a try with RX when I'll be back in the " studio" and see if it can help.... If it works, then it will be complete cheating in some way...( pitch correction AND audio correction). Thanks again. All the best. Olivier.

Mark Knopfler all over the place. Love it! I like how your vocal is up front, it's well recorded and you sing great! "the band" - the phrasing there stuck out to me, you might play around with that. compress the snare less, and boost its volume a little with an eq instead? Super job, so cool you can do this in language #2 !!! cheers, -Tom

Hello Tom. Thanks for your feed-back.I had not Mark Knopfler in mind ,but it is cool you hear it this way. I will give a try to your advice with the snare. I agree with you concerning the intonations on certains words but I won't go back to the vocal part, it is time now to moove forward with other songs :-) Cheers. Olivier.

Hello Mark, Merci pour le petit mot en francais...... Actually ,this song is a kind of recreation, I wrote it for the girlfriend of one of my best friend's son. She is Romanian ,lives in Austria and they met in Ushuaia . She sings quite well ,so I told her :"if I write a song for you, would you sing it ?" and she said yes,but as a youth from this century ,she forgot to answer when I sent her the two tracks rush,so I did it by my own ,but who knows ,maybe she will make the job one day... It would be fun and I will let this cool place members know if it happens.. Cheers. Olivier.

That was nice... It has a nice laid back acoustic vibe to it, but with enough energy to push forward and little FX coming in and out for spice.

Hi Steve, Thank you to give your time to listen and give a feed-back. Maybe this song will moove a little bit forward because the young lady I wrote it for finally took the time to listen to it and asked me for the playback track,so maybe someday I will receive her vocal part and then I will share the result here for shure, because ,for me,here is a cool place to be. Cheers. Olivier .

Very good song! I loved the guitar playing. I thought the way it progressed was good too. Good solid songwriting. If I could change anything, I would bring the drums up a bit. Nice job!

Hi Bob, thanks a lot for listening and for your comment. Concerning the drum ,as I like playing with a drummer when I have the occasion ( as far as he doesn't try to convince the audience he is the best drummer in the world:-) ... ) for me virtual drums are a necessary evil,so I don't like them ,maybe that is why, if I could I would put them ten kilometers away in the mix drowned in the verb... Hi hi . Cheers. Olivier.
