Sonitus help files out-of-date

I notice that the Help files for Sonitus Gate and Compressor have not been updated to include the side-chaining facility.  Is there any other documentation for these plug-ins anywhere else?

Sorry, I'm not sure about the help file, but I can probably help you with the sidechain, what are you trying to do?

...what are you trying to do?
Nothing specific, just experimenting and exploring the plug-ins' potential.

    Cool, they're very straightforward.

When you insert a plug that has s/c input that input appears in the output / buss list. You can address this via a send (assuming you still want to hear the 'key' track), or via the channel output (if you don't want to hear the 'key'

I already use this technique or something similar, but thanks anyway.

Since adding a 3rd monitor to my setup, I sometimes use the additional screenspace for displaying manuals or help text.  I believe that this is a good habit to adopt.  Help files and manuals are not just for new users getting started.  They can be useful to dip into for technical ideas and as a reminder that there are more settings than I normally think of using or other controls that I don't even touch.  With any softsynth or effect, after initially learning how to get started with it, I tend to keep on using it in similar fashion, forgetting that they may be other aspects to explore.  Having help text and illustrations in view can be a good prompt and a reminder to try new ways of using things.

    Totally agree,

Have you seen this series of little articles: http://www.cakewalk.com/T.s/MixMast/SonitusFX.aspx they're also a bit out of date (the gate one says there's no external sidechain) but they do offer some interesting insight and use cases.

There's also this more general one about the sidechain: http://www.cakewalk.com/Tips/SONAR/SideChain.aspx but it may be a bit rudimentary for you. Sounds like you might be better off scouting the technique forum for more specific sidechain tricks, as the implementation is generally pretty simple.

    Have fun!

    Kev999,
Are you still on Sonar 7 (as per your sig). It may be that the help files have been updated on later versions. I'm not at my daw right now. Anyone?

I was wondering about this too and I was hoping that someone would check.

    I'm running PE 8.5.3.

As far as I can see these Help files haven't been updated. The Help for fx:Gate talks about creating a "sidechain trigger signal" using high- and low-pass filtering and denies the possibility of a using an external sidechain input (while such an input clearly exists now - it's assignable as an output from any audio track).
I can't find any reference at all to sidechain input in the fx:Compressor help file.
