Sonitus:fx plugins in Sound Forge?

Is it possible to register the Sonitus:fx plugins so you can use them in Sound Forge? I thought they used to be there before I switched to Windows 7 and Sonar 64bit but can't be sure.

Help much appreciated.

If Sound Forge can use DX plugins, they should already be available.  But I can't speak to the 64bit thing though.

SF is a 32 bit program. 64 bit DX plugins are not going to be read by a 32 bit program.

If it is an issue you could install 32 bit Sonar and its plugins.

Sound Forge 10 is a 64 bit program that recognizes Sonitus and all CW plug ins.  I have one myself and use it quite often.

Upon further review, I'm not sure that it is 64 bits, but it does recognize and run all CW plug ins on my 64 bit system running Windows 7.

SF 10 is still 32 bit.

If you only install SONAR x64 then its using the 64 bit version of SONITUS fx which SF10 won't see.

If you also install SONAR x86 then that will install the 32 bit versions of SONITUS FX and SF10 will pick them up.

Thanks everyone - I had thought the sonitus plugins were still 32-bit. I 'll search out the 32-bit versions

A week or so ago someone was asking about the opposite situation -- using SF plug-ins in Sonar (verdict: might or might not work well for various reasons).

The problem with using SF plugs in Sonar is that most aren't designed for real-time use.

The problem with using SF plugs in Sonar is that most aren't designed for real-time use.

This is an issue that goes way back to the pre-Sony/Sonic Foundry days - Cakewalk and Sonic Foundry didn't agree on the some basic stuff in regards to compliance to the DX standard. Their implementation of the standard was different.

SF plug-ins should work fine in real-time as long as you use them in other Sony applications (Acid, Vegas). I think the not designed for real-time argument derives from something Peter Haller (SF) used to say but which was mostly related to Acoustic Mirror - which, if I'm not mistaken, was among the very first impulse-based processor. That thing would bring your old PII 350 to its knees. Of course, nowadays, that's a non-issue...

Yup, that came out in the other thread. I'd been wondering idly for a long time, never bothered to search out the info but eventually (thanks to that thread) found out by accident.
