Sony Wave Hammer not Showing in X1 x64
Hi, When I installed Sonar X1 in Win XP x32 Sony's Wave Hammer DX plug-in shows up in the Audio FX list. Now that I'm using Win 7 x64 it does not show up. Sound Forge Pro 10.0c was installed in both instances. Any idea what's going on? Can I use Wave Hammer (x32) in Sonar X1 x64? Thanks, Sergio

you should be able to i think..as long as its bridged.it may be in the wrong folder..is it in program folders(86) ??..also try opening the plug in manager and making sure its file path is selected.and also chosen from the left column.

I don't know how to set the file path for DX effects. I can set the file path option is for VST plug-in effects and not for DX. Thanks, Sergio

But there is a handy little app that will "wrap" DX effects and make them into vsts. Search the forum for the link, but use at your own risk.

Thanks for all the info. I'd like to keep everything 64bit, so I'll try to recreate Wave Hammer with Pro Channel. Sergio

I just checked my own list of plug ins, and I have all the Sony plugs except Wave Hammer. Curiously, I have Wave Hammer Surround listed, but not the stereo version. Still, it's basically just a brick wall limiter which can be achieved with a Sonitus Compressor set to a high ratio or Boost 11 if used judiciously.

BItBridge and jBridge only work on VSTs not DXs. There are some wrappers (DX Shell is one) that make a DX plug appear as VSTs but not always successful in x64 host.

But it does the same thing outside, doesn't it?

chuckebaby chuckebaby sorry there right..dx plugs are not supported in x1 yes im aware what you said is incorrect Not trying to be pedantic or pick on you just trying to stop wrong info from getting out there. DX plugins are supported in X1. For X1 (x64) they have to be rewritten as native 64 bit plugins. All the Cakewalk FX and Sonitus suite are DX but are available as native x64 DX plugins.

Sergio: Adding SF to your SONAR menu is relatively easy and worth it. It allows you to highlight a portion of an audio track or the whole track, press the menu iitem SF10 and that audio data is passed to SF for further editing. All of SF's 32 bit plugins will work as the the host, SF is 32 bit. If you haven't already and want to add SF to your Utilities menu in X1 I can send you a *.reg file which will automatically make the appropriate entries in your registry for you. Then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\Sound Forge 10 and change 'Sound Forge 10' to 'Sound Forge your version' within the registry key you need to edit 3 of the entries: just double click the following bold text in your registry to open the editor where you make the changes exepath to the full path of your SF program .exe file Menutext to &Sound Forge your version StatusBarText to run Sound Forge your version Make a backup of your registry before you begin. If you find it too difficult send me the info about your version of SF and where the .exe file is located on your system and I'll write the reg file for you then all you'll have to do is double click to run it and that's it. You also need to enable "share drivers with other programs" so that while SF has focus it can use the audio interface.

You don't seem to have PM enabled. let me know the path to your SF10 .exe note it's calle Forge100.exe It's usually something like: C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Sound Forge Pro 10.0\Forge100.exe (if you're on a 64 bit system.) If you enable PM (or send me an email address via PM) I can attach the *.reg file . All you need to do is copy it anywhere on your computer and double click it to run it. Then open SONAR and see if SF 10 appears on your Utilities Menu.

LANEY True lynn, but I miss the sony Wave Hammer for it was easy to use and very clean sounding. Other effects do the same thing. My sentiment's the same. I hear that SF 11 will be 64 bit. Let's hope that we get a x64 Wave Hammer plug-in and that its parameters will finally be exposed for automation. Sergio

mudgel If you enable PM (or send me an email address via PM) I can attach the *.reg file . All you need to do is copy it anywhere on your computer and double click it to run it. Then open SONAR and see if SF 10 appears on your Utilities Menu. PM enabled. Thanks, Sergio

Yes it is a destructive edit but you can save the file in SF without passing iot back to SONAR. Or you can make a copy of the track befoer you pass it to SF so that you can destructively edit a copy instead of the opriginal. Remember that while you highlight a section in SONAR the whole track/clip is passed to SF with the same portion highlighted. If you accept the editing it will write a file in SF and when you go to SONAR you will be asked of that new file should overwrite the original SONAR track. You can use the feature ion lots of creative ways, maybe wave hammer or other dynamics processing is not the typical example of how you would use this feature but there are times when a destructive edit is made.
