Soothsayer Blues <------ Soundcloud link (Remix 26 Oct 2012, more bottom)

Soothsayer Blues
Copyright © 2012 SteveStrummerUK, Old55, Beagle, Bapu

Opening solo: Jamesg1213

Verse 1:
Curse the Mayan calendar, Somehow that just can't be right.
I can't wait December twenty-twelve, I can't wait another night.
That Nostradamus, don't make sense at all
I wonder where he bought his crystal balls.

Chorus:
Heaven help me.
I got the soothsayer blues,
The world's gonna end.
Say my soothsayer friends.
I got the soothsayer blues.

Solo 1a: SteveStrummerUK
Solo 1b: Daryl1968

Verse 2:
You can't trust that horoscope, It’s retrograde and much too vague
I just need a few more facts, So I won't read that useless page
Toss the tarot, And the Ouija board
Those parlor games, Don't thrill me no more

Repeat Chorus

Solo 2a: ohgrant
Solo 2b: Steve StrummerUK

Verse 3:
Don’t eat the Chinese fortune cookies, and don’t ya go and toss those runes.
Why does the future have to be so drear?  Why can’t it be just as bright and clear?
Fortune tellers have caused such a fright!  Why does the end have to be black and white?

Repeat Chorus x2

Outtro licks: SteveStrummerUK
Closing Solo: Jamesg1213

The Players and Singers:
Lead Vocal, Organ: Beagle
Chorus Backing Vocals: Julibee, Daryl1968

    Not bad

Below is probably down to me being an Alien with furry ears.

For me but it sounds a little "thin" perhaps a tad to much reverb.  Seem to lack bottom weight.

Thanks for sharing, I am sure once tweaked it is going to be a real cool work.

Love the tune and great playing!!!  What happened to the low end???  Sounds like everything below about 250 got rolled off or something.  ??

Re-tweak forthcoming?  ( I hate when that happens...  I had to re-tweak my offering 5 minutes after I posted it this morning...  LOL)

    Cheers!

This is a cool song and very topical.  It's a little lite on my end, as well.  But, since this is so tweakable, you shouldn't take any time at all to punch this up.

I agree but an organ that size would frighten any ordinary person. You are used to handling such a beast.

Ok guys, let's not fight over my organ!

JB - thankee very much mate!

Herb - thanks, I appreciate that very much!  I really like singing the blues!

James - the organ actually gets buried during the guitar solos, not that there's much there, but I didn't think it was mixed too hot myself.  bapu's the "mixer" and he's out of pocket for a couple of days, but I"m sure he'll consider your suggetion.  thanks very much!

    thanks Robby

Wookiee, Tony, Lynn, James - everyone who thinks it's a little thin, thank you again for your kind words and suggestions!  I'm sure they'll be considered!

to all - thanks very much for the great comments and for listening!  It was a super fun project!

hey guys. i guess blues is a foolproof collab vehicle! agree mix is a little toppy, dulcimer is awesome, Reece sings very well but needs to up his marlboro and whiskey intake to be truly convincing, all guitarists do good deeds, in particular james 1st solo, steve's first and grant, is ed playing?, and wtf is julianna doing on this? fun times ;-)

nice sleasy blues licks right off the bat

    that works for me!

i've always wondered about that damn calender

"I wonder where he bought his crystal balls."

    LOL

    that dulcimer blend was perfect.
i never even really thought about that kind of treatment, damn, now i gotta find me a dulcimer!

dig those floaty backups behind the verse2

and it's nice having ALL those different voices to mix into the choruses.

nice solid groove going there guys.

    fun tune, thanks!
