Sorceress [Berlin School]

Okay Peeps, I apologise for posting two in one day, but I've been on a bit of a roll and this second one just wouldn't let me put it down.

Unlike Conflagration, which was just one track/take, this is a layered affair with a total of eight tracks. All created by the Modular Time Machine 01 V1.1

cheers

Cool, creepy stuff Andy. For some reason I got an '80's horror movie vibe..Hellraiser, stuff like that. I like whatever reverbs you use, really warm sounding.

excellent soundscape Andy - you can almost smell the tension :)
You really need to get with someone who's into video or do it yourself - this is crying out for a movie to go along with it imo.

Nice Andy, I must admit I think I would put a gently evolving Jupiter 8 or CS 80 Pad under it just because I could 😀.  You are obviously having some cool fun with you new 'toy' keep em coming they are good to hear.

Thanks James

Reverbs... Now, there's a thing... I'll be the first to admit that I don't have the faintest idea what I'm doing when it comes to delay and reverbs. I kind of just sit there thinking "oohh... that's nice," and I don't get into the slightest bit of technical stuff about room size and reflections and what have you. Looses me.

So, for this one I used the following:-

Timeless 2 on its own buss with a basic stereo delay just to give the mono output from my modular some width.

Berverb 2 on its own buss. I pretty much always go for the cathedral preset and I might change the time, shape and predelay settings a bit.

Then, and I know this is just way over the top, but I use my most recent purchase, Pro-R, also on its own buss and I just love the Black Hole preset.

Then I send all my audio tracks, at slightly different levels, depending on what they are (frequency range and stuff) to each of those effects busses.

All the effects totally wet.

I even have send from the delay buss to the reverb busses.

Is that too much information?

Cheers, James, and thanks again for listening

I know, I know Daryl, but I don't have time to learn the skills myself and I came to a complete blank last time I looked into it.

I did hear from someone about five weeks or so ago and he said that he thought my music would go well with his videos. I think it turned out to be a ruse to get me to watch his video, which wasn't too bad actually, and was even a sci-fi thing, but I've not heard from him since.

Thanks again for listening to this Daryl, much appreciated

This is really nice, Andy.  It sounds a bit like Tangerine Dream. In fact, I listened to Rubycon again and I think your song could have worked quite well on that album.

Hi Bjorn,

I think it is the Metropolis sequencer that help to give it that sort of TD flavour.

Thanks for having a listen

Very interesting piece, Andy.  It had this vaguely menacing tone to it that only grew as the piece progressed.  Very effective use of the arps coming and going around the main theme.

Nice one...   She's cool, dark and ready to pounce, but holds back just enough.  Love those repeated short, slightly distorted sweeps that keep cycling through over the slowly building arps.   Good stuff.

Nicely done there Andy, a perfect underscore for a horror flick. Certainly has that old school mid 70's Tangerine Dream vibe when they used to jam live on stage.

Nicely done there Andy, a perfect underscore for a horror flick. Certainly has that old school mid 70's Tangerine Dream vibe when they used to jam live on stage.

Thanks Adrian

Yeah, the title "Sorceress" is a big nod to Tangerine Dream.

Also, I think using a hardware sequencer, like I did here, certainly helps to capture that vibe

cheers
