Sorry NEwB problem. How to move entire sections to the left on the time line.

How does one move an entire section of a piece left on the time line, or contrarily how does one delete the hole.  (It seems like it should be so simple. I did do a lot of searching but found no answer).

    Select the track or tracks and make sure snap is off and click on the clip or clips and slide them over.
