Sorry.. but I've got to ask... MAC / Bootcamp testimonies?

Hello again.

I'm thinking about buying a new DAW, and I am considering the MAC/BOOTCAMP/Windows 7 possibility as seriously as buying just another PC.

I want to lower the possibilities of hardware issues when buying off the shelf... and I am also troubled by what seems to be a decreasing FIREWIRE support in the PC world.

So, BOOTCAMP USERS, what say you? Is your experience running a Windows DAW on MAC hardware a pleasant one? Or is there too many issues agin in that scenario?

Thanks again.

I'm curious to know about this as well.  Any Win 7 64-bit bootcamp users?

I dual boot Win 7 64 bit and Snow Leopard on a MacPro. Works fine with the latest Bootcamp driver pack. I know that Lynx and RME will support you with a bootcamp setup, and MOTU won't.  The only possible problem is that you can't go into the BIOS and disable the various power saving CPU states or do other tweaks. But that hasn't been an issue for me.

But, if you don't NEED OSX then don't bother. There are better ways to spend your money.

My windows laptop is fading...clattery hardrive, won't record anymore almost full memory. My wife's solution was to run out and buy an Imac. What do I need to know to transfer over with the powerstudio I have now? Will the firewire interface still work? What is bootcamp and even if I can get there, do I need additional software, or just re-load sonar 6? Is there a link to a discussion site I can go to?

These are the works of man? This is the sum of our ambition? Sting
