Sound Blaster Live! 2 Inputs problem

The Sound Blaster Live! says that it has 2 inputs into Cakewalk Sonar. But when I go and select the input drivers only 1 driver shows. What am I missing? When I select the track and then select my sound card I have Right Left and stereo inputs. Would Right and Left be Mic and line in on the sound card ?

Thoughts Suggestions

Thanks !

Your SoundBlaster probably has a 1/8" stereo input jack. The driver is correct. You would have to run a stereo source and then select either of the input drivers.

I dont understand I use the stereo from my mic input on my sound card, Split it so im only recording mono of each chanel ? How does line-in come in to play ? Is there any way to tell Sonar to use my Mic input as one input and then Line-in as another input ? When I select my sound card for the track It says "Creative EMU10k1 Audio Processor (WDM) 1in, 3out" but when I check the hardware on the cakewalk website it says that the sound blaster live has 2/2 in/out.

Thoughts ? Im not against splitting the stereo Mic input but I want to make sure that is the correct way to get the 2 inputs.

Thank you all for your help

SB Live doesn't have a Stereo Mic Input. It has 1 connection for a mic (mono signal 1/8th inch mono plug) it has another input (line in) which is stereo 1/8th inch stereo plug. Left & Right

If you don't see 3 inputs in your drivers window under WDM drivers you may need to select MME drivers or download ASIO4ALL driver to get full functionality of 3 inputs ie.
    1. Line in Left,
    2. Line in Right,
    3. Mic In.

Read your Sonar manual and do the tutorials. They are invaluable in sorting out issues like these. At least you will understand the jargon a little better to enable your questions to be understood a little easier so we can help. also look at your sound card manual for connection info. If you don't have one then go to the creative site and Download it. It is available there.

SB live has 1 stereo line in. The mic input does not count as an independent input. It will show as only one (stereo) driver in the list but show as 3 options in the input source, left, right and stereo. The line input of the SB is 1/8" stereo plug. Connect the L & R outputs of a mixer to the proper 2 mono to 1 1/8" stereo Y chord and you're set. Sonar will show 1 input and 3 outs because the SB also has an SPDIF and digital din output on the card. I believe using the SPDIF inputs over-ride the line ins so you still only get 1 stereo in.

    Hope it helps,

Also, in the past with SB stuff, regardless of what Sonar offers you, you have to choose the correct input (mic or line) with the SB mixer. And you can only have one at a time.
    Maybe it's improved, but...

There are several Live! models out there --> which exact model do you have? (SB0xxx/CTxxxx)

You should be able to get 2 mono line inputs or 1 mono microphone inputted w/o native ASIO.

Also, by installing Audigy drivers/software you perhaps get native ASIO supported and it's functionality too (this would allow you to select mic and LineIn/Aux L/R simultaenously).

If not, then the only solution that may give you some help is the kX Project drivers since not Asio4All, ASIO2KS nor ASIOx allow more input sources at once than those you already can get.
