Sound Card Issues with Sonar 8 Producer

Hello everyone,
 
I have a question about the on board sound card on my laptop.  First, I don't think it will work at all with the on board sound card.  The audio from Sonar has cracks and pops even with the buffer set all the up.  My question is will this audio interface bypass my internal soundcard and solve the problem?:

Computer Specs:
Lenovo Thinkpad Laptop
1.8 Ghz Pentium Dual Core Processor
1 Gb Ram
Conexant HD Venice 5045 on board Sound Card
Firewire and USB inputs

    Yes, that looks like it would do the trick. After installing it run the Wave Profiler in Sonar's Audio Options. Then in the Audio Options Drivers tab enable ONLY the drivers for this device. You can also use it for the Windows Input/Output default devices if you want.

    You should read Beagles recommendations before ordering an interface, Somehow I don't think that's one that's known to work as well as others at that price point. You need more RAM too! 2 Gigs is min.
