Sound Center Speed of Sounds

On a number of the sounds in sound center (both purchased and free examples) I notice that playing a lower note on the virtual  keyboard gives you the same sound but at just a slower rate (like it's in slow motion), rather than a lower pitch which would be what I would expect to hear.  Of course, higher notes and the sounds are just sped up quickly.

Is there a way to make changing the notes affect pitch rather than the speed?  This is all new to me, but if you cannot, then what's the point?

Thanks,
Dave

I am away from my studio at the moment - I am just posting so you know someone is trying to help.

I will be wandering downstairs in a couple of hours and will check this out and post back.  :)
