    Does it happen every time?

Give us more details on the times it occurs. What are you doing?

Reboot the computer and insert SC.... does it crash like that?

There are 2 ways to insert SC... one is with the insert synth command....

the other is  to insert 1 audio and midi track. then insert the SC into the audio track FX bin... go into the midi track and set the recieving channel to the keyboard's channel, and the output to sound center.

If it keeps crashing, and it's not a driver issue with the factory sound card..... contact tech support and ask them..... be patient, they are a bit slow replying to email.

Another question: can you insert any other synth  without having it crash...and do they play OK? If yes.... it's only a problem with SC.... try to reinstall sound center... remove it totally and do a reinstall. Don;t install over it.

this is something that might take cakewalk tech support to figure out.  you should send them an email with that dump file in it.

Woohoo! success. I uninstalled SC rebooted, ran registry cleaner, rebooted, reinstalled, and it was not in the insert synth icon. So I opened the track assistant and saw it there. I loaded one and it worked. Strangely that seems to have relinked it to the insert track icon. Now everything is roses in MC land. Most curious. Incedentally it was not in the track assistant or the plugin manager before. Now it is????

Bad install on the first try or a corruption due to the reinstall.

    Glad you got it fixed.

what warning screen are you talking about?  I don't get one.

nevermind - you're talking about HIS warning screen.  but I only saw it the FIRST time I opened this thread because I use the "go to the new topic" link instead of clicking on the thread name.  it by-passes the posts I've already read.

I have MC5. Just got USB Midiman Keystation 49 controller. Plugged it in, and in Sound center all I got was the same "generic" synth sound, no matter what instrument I chose. Now when I open MC5, even without the controller plugged in, Sound Center emits that same synth sound for all instrumnents I choose. HELP!! I contacted Cakewalk, but no reply
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
Please go back to the main forum page and click the "Post New Thread" button in the upper left and tell us what operating system you're using, if it's a 64-bit OS, how much RAM your computer has and what sound card you're using.
What is the output of the MIDI track that you're controller is feeding, if you're using different channels for each MIDI track, etc.
By posting your own problem in your own thread, we can all keep track of it better, including you, and won't hijack this thread. ;-)
