Sound Issues w/ Sonar X2 Studio

I imported tracks from my Tascam-DP-24 to Sonar X2 Studio.  And I also tired listening to the demo that comes with Sonar X2 Studio.  Every snare hit, for example, it is trailed by some kind of weird electronic sound.  When I listen to a file in iTunes, it sounds fine.   Any ideas on how to fix this?

Also, if I can't fix this...  What USB interface would you recommend?  At this point in time, I'm mostly looking for a quality USB playback through headphones (more so than plugging in a mic for recording...I don't need that right now).  Maybe I have issues with soundcard compatibility and I want to try USB first.  I'm running Windows 8 and my computer has USB2 and USB3.

Thanks!

What soundcard?  How do you have it configured. Computer specs? Not enough info to hazard a guess.

I have an HP ENVY h8
    AMD Six-Core FX-6102 Processor
    10GB DDR3
    1 TB HD (7200 rpm)
    AMD Radeon HD7450 graphics Card 1GB DDR3

As for the sound card...I guess it doesn't have one...it's integrated:

    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

So...advice for a USB interface would be great.  I just need good play back!!

    Thanks.
