Sound cutting out after applying effects.

Hi all I am having great difficulty in trying to figure out as to why when I apply effects such as Reverb, Delay or Phase to an audio clip the sound cuts out when played back. It only seems to do it with certain audio clips & I can only describe the sound as a very faint low level constant tone.

I am working with Cakewalk Sonar X1 Producer with a E-MU 0204 USB audio interface running on Windows 7 64bit.

What are the FX you use? Are they 64 bit compatible?
If the problem only occurs on certain clips, it isn't a question of 64 / 32 bits, but something else.
Is there something special in common with the problem clips?

The FX I use are mainly the Sonitus:fx such as the Delay, Reverb & Phase effects, it also does it sometimes with Wave effects that I use like Trans X & Doubler 2. What do you mean exactly when you say "Is there something special in common with the problem clips"?
