Sound formats in Sonar

Hi everyone, I was going through my loop library and I have a bunch of wave format loops however I cannot use them in Sonar. Whenever I try to import or drag them onto a track I get the "no-no" symbol (circle with a bar through it). Any ideas? I cannot see anything in the properties of the loop that makes them any different than any other wave loop.  TIA as always!

Don't know what version of SONAR you're using but if your audio files are REX files and you're using SONAR x64 then they wont work as the REX libraries have not been updated to 64 bit yet.

What extension do the file names end with and have you right clicked on any of them to check properties? Are they acidized loops? they should work but we need more info.

Hi, I'm using Sonar 8.5, 64-bit version. Regarding the loops, clicking on properties just tells me they are "Microsoft wave sound format". There is nothing checked under attributes. The only other info in properties is something labeled CRC-32 and next to that it says "1E4707B1".  Perhaps it is because I have 64-bit edition of Sonar instead of 32-bit?  I can open and play the loops in my media players (WINAMP, Windows Media Player, Creative, etc.)

it maybe a sample rate issue.

i forget where the setting is in SONAR but you can set it to import waves at their default sample rate rather than the setting SONAR is currently at.

most loops are likely to be 16 bit @ 44.1Khz

CRC 32 refers to a Checksum and the number next to is the value of that sum. Its a way of checking a files integrity ie its not corrupt if the file is checked against its checksum accurately. Sort of a laymens explanation. Don't be surprisef if someone comes along and writes a 2 page report correcting or expanding some detail.

64 bit would only be an issue if it was a REX file as I mentioned earlier. Winamp should tell you what bitrate amd sample rate the files are/ that may give us a clue too.

Can you import them into Madia player and covert them to just WAV? The Windows Media Format is only read by Media player. Thus the name

Once they are converted into standard WAV CW can read them.

    Thanks

Thanks Mike! I'll look around for that setting in Sonar about the import.  I did open it in WINAMP, and it says the sample rate is 706 KBPS, 44 KHZ.  706 seems odd to me. I also tried importing it into a free wav/mp3 converter I have but it didn't even recognize it.
