SoundSoap is Back for Windows

I had the original version of this from Bias Pro and used to use it all the time until they went bust and support dried up!
As an old user I can get this for only $49, which I think I'm going to do as I had been saving for iZotope RX but it is just so expensive I could never quite get enough together to buy it!!

The new version of Sound soap is supposed to improved etc. I will report back once purchased and downloaded / tried etc

Fixing audio noises has never been easier now that SoundSoap 3 is available! Soundness is now the developer for SoundSoap, and we would like to welcome you to our family of customers. As a preferred SoundSoap customer, we are making the SoundSoap 3 upgrade available to you for just $49 - that's $100 off the regular price. As you know, SoundSoap is the easiest-to-use cleaner for audio noise problems like unwanted hiss and background noises, clicks, pops, crackles, electrical hum, and rumble.
Use SoundSoap 3 in Garageband, Cubase, Final Cut Pro X, Vegas, ProTools, Logic X, Premiere, Live, Peak, Digital Performer, or any other compatible application that supports the SoundSoap plug-in (Windows 7/8, OS 10.6 or later, Audio Unit and VST 32/64-bit formats, RTAS* for ProTools 8/9/10, AAX 64-bit Native for ProTools 11). SoundSoap 3 is now compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit hosts like Cubase, Vegas, Apple’s Logic X and Final Cut Pro X or Avid's ProTools 11. This means you can use SoundSoap 3 in the latest versions of your audio applications, taking advantage of 64-bit processing speed and efficiency.
SoundSoap 3 sports a fantastic new user interface, including a high-resolution Wash Window, so you can see exactly what noise is being removed, before and after. SoundSoap 3 also has an improved Learn Noise feature that allows learning from any length portion of the media, for as long as the Learn Noise button is pressed. Earlier versions of SoundSoap required 2-3 seconds of isolated material to use the Learn Noise feature. We know you will find this improvement makes learning isolated sections of noisy audio even easier than before.
"...a must have piece of software." -Radio Magazine
The standalone SoundSoap 3 application now features audio recording. Now its simple to record audio directly into SoundSoap, making your project workflows even more seamless. After media files have been cleaned with SoundSoap, they can now be shared with one click directly to Facebook, Email, Messaging, AirDrop, and more*! There simply isn't an easier way to share great sounding videos, screencasts, interviews, presentations, and audio with others.
Any way you choose to use it, SoundSoap 3's advanced audio restoration technology does the hard work for you, and gives crisp, pro-quality results in just seconds.

This was the one and only application that made me jealous of Mac users.

But I am wary of companies with a long Mac history who also do Windows on the side.

His DAW of choice is Sonar, which he updates on the first day it's available. He doesn't understand why people have bugs because his works perfectly.

Bias Peak was one of those apps I really wanted to work with when I moved to Mac. As it turned out, the price was prohibitive but I eventually managed to find a great deal on the LE version.

A couple of months later, as I was considering the upgrade, Bias bought the farm.

I was kind of hoping that SoundSoap being back meant a chance for Peak, but it seems not.

By happenstance, I had to use my old SoundSoap Pro yesterday after many years of not needing it. However, I am cleaning up and "enhancing" audio for a local fellow and he was interviewing a woman on a farm and there were particularly loud wind gusts. I opened up my 32 bit Sonar 8.5, instantiated the plugin, sampled a brief period of silence and all but the worst gusts were silenced. The client was happy and sent me back more files with wind.

I'm thinking now I should upgrade for ease of use in 64 bit.

Any news on how well it works. Is it better or just a refined GUI?

I had that when it was being offered by CW in their store a long time ago. It was very easy to use and did a fairly good job. When it went to version 2 I didn't upgrade. If I recall correctly it was a price issue. They didn't give much of a discount for Soundsoap users. Also It was not as good as the original.

This one looks good and is 64 bit so it might be a winner. I will stand by and watch what happens.

Well slight hick up my end - my system crashed (sounds like hard disc failure, thankfully all backed up) and had to go and see the Computer Doctor! Should get it back Monday all going well, will install and then report back.

Actually, I didn't upgrade yet because my old version works so well. I just completed the new file and it worked a little too well as it took out the katydids and crickets as well as the wind. Now the country "ambience" is gone as well but I suspect that is OK with the client for his purposes as they were already pretty far in the background.

I wonder if Izotope Rx (which my son has) could distinguish the bugs and just take out the wind?
