Soundcloud and AOL

I sent someone a link to a soundcloud song. This person uses AOL (don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger). When the play button is presses nothing happens (even after waiting 5 minutes for potential "buffering"). If that person open the identical link in IE on the same computer the song plays.

Any ideas why this happens in AOL?

To be fair to James I use AOL Broadband too, it seems like they are the only ones prepared to operate it some of the more outlying areas.

Actually they use Talk Talk's network now but there's nobody that provides near as good coverage here.

I don't use any of the AOL browser rubbish though it's literally they just provide the connection and I decide what browser I'll use.

Again no problems with Soundcloud here either.

You're right, I've looked into alternatives, and it would be out of the frying pan etc. I use Firefox for browsing. It's the garbage I have to wade through (or try to ignore) to check my email that gets me down.

I though AOL was ran out of town in the UK years ago, no? Or do they still service accounts from long distance now because I haven't seen or heard of them over here for years...

It's merely because of the controls AOL puts on their content. It's a sign on or we'll block you thing. As with most AOL things, they want to be the main player-subscription provider for any content entering AOL's user group.

It's linked to way too many things now, I couldn't be doing with the hassle of changing.

You can set up an autoforward of all emails to an alternative email address, so no need to change anything.

    Goes like this apparently...

Log in to AOL mail & click on setting/option.
In next windows that appears, click on POP access & forwarding
Check the box forwarding & type the email new address where you wish to forward your AOL mail. Save the option & log out.
Next time your AOL mail will be received at your new address.
