Soundcloud vs. other sites

Question: I listen to lots of songs on sound cloud and posted my own mp3's there, i feel like the sound quality is degregaded once files are uploaded. Anyone else notice this?  Or is it just me?!  LOL!

Stupid Soundcloud changed their format so all uploaded tracks autoplay now. Figures as soon as I sign up they go and do something stupid like that. Now if you go to listen to one of my lighter songs you immediately get blasted by my metal songs right after.

Damned web designers don't when they should stop fiddling around with crap.

But does that change the way other people see my page? I don't care about it auto-playing for me. If it changes the settings for how visitors see the page then I'll check it out. Cheers.

    look into the download feature.

What does "download feature" have to do with it?

the problem is 128 kbps mp3 encryption...  nothing is going to sound 100% correct after that...

SoundCloud sounds as good or better than a lot of alternative sites IMO. It is a lot more accessible and user friendly too.

I read that SoundCloud converts to 128 kbps mp3 encryption but if you want your file to be downloadable, then the original format you use will be the one that is downloaded.

I don't allow my songs to be downloaded but I uploaded at my normal 44/24 wave format anyway.  I have found that it does lose quality but not as much as I would think based on their low encrytion spec.

Yes, Tracey Tracey... I notice it too... No, it's not just you...

notnat, out of curiosity I've just compared your "Never Was" (nice stuff by the way :)  A/B soundcloud vs SoundClick .
My first impression was that it sounds clearer and fuller on SoundClick.
    I guess Tracy is right!

There are some music hosting sites that will allow higher-res mp3 file uploads... a SoundClick VIP account will allow 320kbps uploads, but you have to pay extra for it... and who knows if that's what you're really listening to, while streaming... I believe it is, and I believe they sound better, but I could be wrong...

Maybe I'm just rationalizing that monthly bill I get from SoundCloud SoundClick...
