Two benefits I see to use soundfont manager:
No latency because it is a hardware synth
Modulators.  SFZ does not support breath control (CC #2).

I was using soundfonts until recently when I retired my computer with E-mu's APS sound card.  I would record MIDI using the hardware APS synth (no latency) and I would bounce using Synthfont.  So what I heard while recording was identical to what it got bounced.  All in the digital domain.

www.digitalsoundfactory.com still make very good quality soundfonts.

I use other formats (Emulator X3, Halion, Kontakt) that are much more flexible than that of soundfonts but there's no need to get snobby about soundfont users.

Now I record my wind controller data using a Roland XR programmed to respond to CC 2 and then bounce within Sonar using E-mu's Emulator or Kontakt.

Cakewalk's very own Rapture (Le) synth us also quite adept at handling Soundfonts...
I downloaded a bunch of sh!t-hot sounds from Digital Sound Factory for it yesterday - and I was amazed.

Soundfont afficionados - your problems are over.
