As good as many Rush songs. I have no higher compliment! Love it. Bass playing and bass line are slammin! Your vocal in spots is treated with delay sent to a side - you might consider playing with this delay time, or lessening the volume of the delayed vocal, it kind of obscures the lead vocal. Guitar solo at the end is mega. nice job! -Tom

+1 , that is a tremendous bass line, worthy of Tony Levin, just fantastic, it really draws you straight into the track. It also nails the groove down and gives you all that space to move around over the top - one of your best Bats, love it!

Bass is awesome, vocals are perfect, and guitars are top notch, as always. Really do like that bass a lot... Drums are slightly buried in a few spots, but I don't think it's a deal breaker. They come through just fine elsewhere. Regards, Dan

thanks for the critique, tom.... the delay was set exactly the way i wanted it, to give it the spacey quality and to be slightly off time. i guess that's just the way i hear it in my head. typically, i spend a LOT of time dialing in the length of delay, if it is stereo or not, and then the amount of repeats and length per side, i'm a fan of off-time delay and having the left and right not be equal. that, after years of experimenting with those settings.....

thanks james, the bass track was created in Nuendo, by my buddy crispy....... i'm experimenting with some new tunes using this kind of bass approach, but played in real time, i almost have it dialed in!

Very nice and I like, it has a lot of those hallmarks of a Bat production lots happening but still space around everything to let them breathe. Nice one Bat

thanks rimshot, the wav is definitely the dealio. but remember..... i started with a 320kbps mp3 file for all the backing tracks (everything except vox and guitars) and had to tweak it a lot to get the fidelity up... so, it still sounds lo fi to me, but works with this kind of thing. great in the cans, you can make out more of what's going on. you'll notice the kick drum is all over the place, but almost never on the one. The Kiosk Project Top Notch job ! Yes that bassline certainly draws you in...great vocal treatment and great performance on guitar too. I went for the headphone listen as well as my studio monitors, it works great on both, theres a lot going on in there but it is all cohesive. Excellent !
thanks kiosk, yeah, like i replied to rimshot, the original mix of backing tracks was done well enough that everything has it's place. i had worked on this project several years before i finished it, and my collaborator had disappeared!! literally... so i used what i had. Wookiee Very nice and I like, it has a lot of those hallmarks of a Bat production lots happening but still space around everything to let them breathe. Nice one Bat
thanks wookie.. i think, that using the lo fi mp3 for the basis of the majority of the tracks, then converting it to a 24 bit wav file, and finishing the mix in 24 bit, allowed the guitars and voice to really stand out, maybe that has something to do with the end product. but i will say this now, DON'T DO WHAT I DID!!!! LOL

So, you are pulling out some tunes I haven't heard, NICE! Everything has been said for the most part, Rob. You are truly a gifted musician, songwriter and engineer. Fingers or pick on the bass? The sound makes me about 95% sure it's a pick. Just great, buddy!

warren.... that bass, was done from samples in Nuendo. at least, that's my understanding of it,' my collaborator on this one created the drums, bass, and odd fills and sound effects, and sent me a mp3 to check the mix with, and promptly dissappeared! LOL so i never had a lot of information on the backing tracks..... to me, it sounds like a fretless sample, put thru some distortion, ala tony levin style. either way, i like it! i probably would play it fingerstyle, but you are right, the attack on the first note of each riff, seems pretty tight. this song is off of the bat's brew "The Time is Magic" album.
